    Cook probably won't play in the same position as McAleny though so if it was a choice it would have only been down to budget or more perceived strength in the wider areas.

    I think the McAleny thing was just an inquiry if the price had been right it might have been different but both the managers have said they have had other priorities to those that wanted to listen

    Canavan for AOC then play AOC in the DM role, like he has done in the past. I think we've got enough options in MF now apart from maybe a winger.

    I think we've seen enough of those two as a midfield pair, it's much more likely Anthony O'Connor would move up with Canavan coming in at centre back.

    Novak is out of contract in the summer and he has been a bit injury prone.

    I take the Cook signing as let see what you can do for us and maybe we keep you next season.

    Not sure Novak will be here come the start of next season.

    There are some weird ideas in this thread lately.

    AOC in midfield? Absolutely not.
    Novak on his way? Where? He's an old striker, you think he's getting a big move?
    Wingers? We don't play a formation that suits wingers.

    McAleny would have been a good signing, but Oldham don't need to sell their best player.
