Not sure we are weaker tbh
Canavan for Bre is definitely a upgrade
Guthrie gone wasn't exactly getting game time
Samuels as above Burrell can't be any worse.

Stevens at least we have a winger who is fit and pace to burn definitely a upgrade on Ismail and DMH combined

Foulds and Huffer are lads we are taking a look at who may excel hopefully or be gone by summer nothing ventured nothing gained.

Once we get 1/2 more strikers in we will be streets ahead on where we were.

Agree with that. Im not sure how we are weaker either.

We have managed to bin off 3 of the worst players ever to grace the claret & amber. And we have already replaced two. Im willing to stick my neck out and say Canavan and Burrell won't be any worse.

Adding Stevens, a much needed winger, a 3rd choice keeper and the young lad Foulds automatically makes us stronger - in numbers alone.

Guthrie needs replacing and DMH and Ismael need binning. Probably stuck with the latter due to injury and guessing Stevens is DMH replacement. A left winger and a striker needed now. Probably another CM too.

We are a graveyard for players period. Joe Riley and Omari Patrick are having a great season and loving it at the top of the league.
Both didn’t even look football league for us

Surely if we all stick £2 in we can pay DMH off and make a profit

5 signings in and our strongest 11 is probably the exact same now as it was before the transfer window opened. Canavan looks decent but even he’s unlikely to strengthen a defence that has conceded 2 goals in the past 5 games. The rest are all punts.

We’ve a slightly stronger bench and that’s about it for the moment.

Canavan is an improvement on BRE strengthened Stevens has to be an improvement on DMH Strengthened. As Guthrie failed to score a single goal So Burrell can’t do any worse. And we didn’t have a third keeper. So yes we have undoubtedly strengthened with more to come

I wouldn't say streets ahead, for that we'd have to be signing proven first team players and Canavan is the only one remotely in that category. As Tolly alludes to the first team still picks itself. I can see us doing more intense transfer work in the summer when football has come back to some semblence of normality.

It looks like that is the plan given only one of the five brought in this window will definitely be here past the summer. That's why I don't get people that are saying T & S are being backed this window. It still looks and feels to me like this is a stop gap window where we won't be making too many permanent signings with an eye on a potentially new management team coming in at the end of this season (or possibly sooner if T&S suffer a downturn in fortunes). Yes, it's really positive we are getting rid of some of the dead wood and yes it is pleasing to see us actively bringing in additions in the first part of the month, but let's not get carried away and kid ourselves that this is something it is not.

Of course they are being backed yes so far it is in the main short term but our league position demands it. We needed to strengthen to ensure we don’t get further sucked in and even though recruitment has in no way finished it’s clear the team has been beefed up

I'm not against this approach especially with the current climate but lets not kid ourselves, we're still a lower half league 2 club and thats gonna take a fair while to change. As you say we still don't have a permanent management set up and probably won't till the summer. Once this has been sorted is the time we know we are ready to try and move on.

'Beefed up'? How? One first team player and three with very limited first team exeprience between them? Lets wait till the end of January before talk of being 'beefed up'.

Yes, it does. Apart, possibly, from the Leeds winger.
But with the number of games coming up there's no way we're going to be able to keep the same starting 11, match after match. So it's essential that we have competent replacements for players who are rested, injured or suspended. The new players look likely to be an upgrade on what we had before in reserve so, in that sense, we have strengthened.
Clearly, however, we still need another proven striker in before we can say that it's been a very successful window.

We could literally have brought anyone in and it would have been seen as strengthening by some. Like i mentioned i can see why we've brought in who we have, apart from Canavan i expect its cost us next to nothing bar paying off Guthrie and BRE. I need to see the likes of Stevens and Foulds play before making judgement and Canavan to a lesser extent. Look, i like the club is showing some initiative for once but lets face it, we've set the bar probably as low as it could be set and i need to see way before i change my mindset on Rupp.

We’ve made one main signing we need a couple more like that otherwise it’s been a poor window

I'd agree with that but it was always going to be difficult to bring in proven improvements so as long as we have enough for survival we may have to be patient and try to add real quality in the Summer.

By then we'll hopefully also have a permanent manager in place.

BRE , DMH and Samuels provided nothing between them . If Cavanan, Stevens and Burrell , have one decent game each, thats a vast improvement in my eyes. Surely they can not be any worse.

It's park, what do you expect him to say?

We could re sign Guthrie and BRE tomorrow and he'd still be spinning it as a positive.

I think the real litmus test of how good a window / how much support is being given will be seeing who comes in to replace Guthrie.

It also remains to be seen who else might be leaving in order to judge if we have truly strengthened. If any one of Wood, Staunton or Paudie were to leave, we won't have strengthened and at best, we will be where we were and at worst, could be weaker.
