Good move for me good luck to the lads. Good to see two young blokes grabbing an opportunity by the balls. I've been so impressed by the way they've got the team behind them and how they've organised the team.

Don't get the negativity I guess some people are never happy does it really matter how Sparks phrased it. Credit where its due he appointed these guys and results/performances have drastically changed he's done his job. If he can't get the perm manager he wants then he shouldn't rush into anything and fair play to him for having the guts to stick with what he knows is the right thing to do. Looking forward to seeing what Turnbull brings with these guys and I dare say Conors dad will be helping out with advice too.

Extremely weak by Sparks. I keep telling you all he isn't ready for for the job and this highlights it. Make a decision and stick to it.

Is Rhodes in the background or not but seems like it's his fingers over this as well.

    WEAK!!!

Lose a couple of the upcoming games and the pressure builds up again very quickly. We’re not the only team to have picked up points recently. Let’s not forget that everyone got carried away when Collins won his first game at Shrewsbury. Is this where “interim” gets Sparkes out of a hole? All very well unless you’re into February/ March

The bit that worries me is if we start signing players in January that are on most probably at least 18 month contracts (because who will take 6 months) that means they need to be part of the team next season but we're not sure who the manager will be and therefore how we're going to play.

With the new salary cap we need to be really careful about signings more especially that those going out in the summer will be on their average wage and not their full wage under the cap so there's going to be a meltdown when people don't understand and see 10 leave but only 6 come in or they complain that the quality of signing isn't what they'd expect.

For me the biggest error we've made recently was to not use the time before the cap came in to bring in some good quality players who would then count on average wages for the duration of their contract. We missed a trick there.

I can see your point but on the one hand he isn’t happy with what’s available currently in the market and I agree with him on that. Hurst is garbage despite the clamours for him on here.
If no one is decent available then why panic and get someone in for the sake of it when we have a winning combination at the club currently?

    How is it?

It's weak decision making. Give them the job or hire the person you want.

I've read somewhere that Turnbull is joining us (that may have been Parker ) and I've also seen the references in Turnbull's LinkedIn account to him joining us. And yet with only 4 days to go until the Transfer window opens, the club remains tight-lipped on this. The T&S interim announcement would have been a perfect moment to demonstrate we are fully prepared for the window with all of the key players in place and money available. Maybe we need a Director of Communications to improve the comms between the club and its fans! ;)

Unless we’re only intending to sign youngsters on loan which Stuart had alluded to. Maybe Rhodes and his love of building a squad reliant on loans (and therefore short sighted) has rubbed off on our young leader.

Or maybe the cynic in me thinks a new manager would demand 4 or 5 signings. Appoint them when the windows closed and they can ask all they want but they don’t get? Save some more cash with no fans back?
A move direct from the Rhodes playbook

What if he can't get the person he wants? To me weakness would be appointing someone who he isn't comfortable when there is absolutely no need just because people like you are screaming out for it. He has made a decision just because you don't like it doesn't mean to say its not a decision!

I did think something similar myself, watch us have a poor run of form and suddenly get someone end of January.

Go get a manager you want. Pay combo.

IS RHODES STILL AT THE CLUB???

If Sparks isn't going to be his own man then lets get Rhodes back or get a new CEO that's up to the job.

There were lots of people on here saying four matches is to soon to give them the job. This gives them more time to continue to prove themselves it also gives the club more time to decide whether they are the right pairing or to find someone else. This also means we don’t lose the talents of T& S if it doesn’t work out. It’s the best way to go at the moment. I don’t understand though my no announcement has been made regarding the recruitment team

I honestly feel like it’s been run with half an eye on the pandemic. We won’t recruit heavily in January and the aim will be to get enough PPG on the board to stay in the league. Trueman and Sellars probably not on much more than they were previously and if football does shut down for a month or two then the club has survived the worst.

No one has a crystal ball and we can only judge on results to date. The boys have delivered in spades and with Turnbull set to be announced shortly, I can't see any reason not to see the season out with theses two personally.

Good now Trueman and Sellers can crack on with a bit more certainty, rather than thinking the next game they are preparing for will be the last.
It's been muted that Sparks wasn't over impressed with any of the candidates that showed interest, good for him, neither was I to be honest. Letting these two carry on gives time for better candidates to show interest or become available. Or for Trueman and Sellers to keep strengthening their position as an option for the job, this keeps everyone on their toes.
I tend to agree with my buddy Fordy on this, forget the play-offs but we won't go down.
Just imagine if Hurst had come in and undone all the good work and momentum that these two had built up.
