I agree.

Whether we keep it rolling for the time being, or give a deal until the end of the season, I think it might be a mistake to bring a new man in.

We should have done it by now, but we haven't - and if that was a little gamble by the club, it's paying off.

 

I agree these two have worked wonders turning our poor start around, they seem to be very methodical with their input with regards the opposition, ringing players up with information about the opposition, my only worry if we make T&S full time managers will it be detrimental to the youth side of the club with regards who they have brought through recently, tough call for Ryan.

Agree it is a tough call for Ryan but all I would say is, as with the young players who have come into the squad this season, we should also take pride over young coaches coming through and not be afraid to give them their opportunity (and this is not another 'Collins' scenario, these 2 are having to prove themselves first).
As I said in a post 30 mins ago, the key for me is having the right Recruitment manager in place and confirmation that this person and T&S are all happy to work together - then I would feel much more comfortable

Who said the experienced manager we'd be looking to hire would be out of a job? We've been said to be looking for managers that are already at clubs. Managers with a more extensive record than 4 games. I haven't called for Hurst, but he could be better than Bowyer and McCall and the idea that just because some managers have failed with us means that the next experienced manager will also fail with us is bizarre.

Like I said, Hopkin got 12 points from 15, scoring 13 and conceding 1 in a December not too long ago. We got relegated. 4 games means nothing and that's their whole managerial record. If a couple of DVDs is enough to convince you then that's on you, many managers take a proactive approach to opposition review which is why I stated I didn't want dinosaur managers.

 

The point I'm making T&S are very much a part of these kids with potential coming through, would it continue if T&S got the top job, do we have others who could step up and keep the production line going, I do agree with our new recruitment situation (when it's announced) someone available to speak with the manager with regards positions he wants to improve on.

 

Blaming the fans for our league position made me spit my tea out there.

Considering the starting point when T&S took charge I think they need a bit more respect than you are showing them. They have done more than just great they have done absolutely magnificent.

Now if the club bring in someone else I bloody hell hope they are as good at preparation and man management as T&S clearly are AND they adopt a modern management style. A bit like T&S really.

it would be an utter disaster to appoint anyone but Trueman and Sellers. That’s a fact.

 

I know a couple of lads who play at semi-pro level a couple of levels below City who get this kind of information, I actually just assumed it was standard now and it amazes me that it seems it wasn't happening under McCall, especially as he fretted about the opposition so much.

That it's been implemented as soon as he went shows we had the capacity to provide it and the previous manager just didn't want to do it. It's lazy and another damning indictment both of him, and the lack of football knowledge and experience behind the scenes - as it should have been an expectation.

 

If and when we appoint T&S it would be a good idea to have a director of football leaving the two to get on with doing what they are doing so well

 

Would you have called for the change of a manager after that run?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. What is that T&S are doing wrong that makes you so against the appointment? From where I’m sitting they’ve exceeded all expectations.

 

What an opportunity we have here, £500 a week for trueman (who’s giddy and desperate for the opportunity) or an expensive appointment who couldn’t achieve anymore than what he’s done in the last 4 games. No brainer.

 

I did actually favour approaching a current manager. I believe we were unsuccessful in sounding out Michael Flynn and Chris Beech, not sure where we stand with our interest in Derek Adam. However, I would firmly be behind appointing Trueman and Sellars now. They have passed their audition with flying colours

 

As lazy as the recruitment

No it isn’t a fact.

It could equally be a disaster if we hand them extended contracts and it all suddenly goes Pete tong. Needs sensible heads to make a decision for his season and beyond, if that happens to be these guys then great, but if not then they can return to their current day jobs, hopefully with a nice pay bonus.

 

So, could they have done any worse? The answer is simply no. Not even the best appointment could have bettered their achievement

 

We've absolutely nothing to lose by continuing with the current incumbents till the end of the season. If it all goes wrong they can drop down to their previous positions and we can appoint someone else as and when. If they continue as they are doing, happy days.

 

It could go “pet tong” whoever they appoint but these lads look to know what they are doing. Yes because there lack of experience give them till the end of the season with the promise of longer term if they continue the way they have started
