Next Permanent Manager (now with Poll amended to include Truemen/Sellars)

I'm just using his name as a "collective". He seems to be the one facing the media etc, so I'm giving him the lead as part of the pair. Of course Sellars is part of the success, but I'm hoping he doesn't mind being classified as an "et al" for the time being.

 

If your washing machine was knackered and hadn't been working right for 12 months would you think there's no rush getting a new one whilst it hasn't leaked all over the kitchen floor yet or would you get a new one ASAP and sleep soundly knowing you've done everything realistically possible to rectify the approaching problem?

270 minutes doesn't change the fact that this club is in desperate need of direction and long term planning. 270 minutes of solid if unspectacular performances doesn't change that.

People are talking like Trueman and Sellars will leave the club if we don't appoint them. That's not true, they've already got a job they were doing and one they were doing reasonably successfully.

Ryan Lowe and Richie Wellens were nobodies thrust in at the deep end and both achieved promotions later on without any real expectation of them doing so.

The game has changed now and having a young CEO with fresh ideas, now may be a time to take a chance on what we hope are two talented, youthful coaches, who seem in tune with the players.

I actually think it will be Hurst, and these two will return to the youth set up, but the initial timeframe Sparks outlined was borne out of the disastrous run under Stuart. Every game was three points dropped. That panic is subsiding with every game and it is looking like we might not need to recruit as heavily in Jan as we feared.

I think Sparks will be reluctant to take a big gamble this time, with relegation still a mathematical possibility. The wounds are still a bit sore from Collins and Drury aren’t they.

 

Name all the head coaches in League 2 if you can.

 

Can you really compare Wellens and Lowe to Trueman and Sellars though? Same with Jewell and Kamara etc? I'm just not buying it.

Wellens, Lowe, Kamara and Jewell all had a wealth of football league experience under their belts and 3 of the four had experience of coaching in a professional first team environment before stepping up to management. I'm not researching the managers they also played under and worked with but there'll be plenty more experience in that alone.

Compare it to Trueman and Sellars and without wanting to be disrespectful they've no previous high level playing career or senior team management to draw on. Yes they've done incredibly well and yes, they look like they may have bright futures in the game but for me it is far too early and our position far too insecure and immediate to take a gamble as huge as this. Especially when we've been so recently burned by pretty much the exact same situation.
