Director of Football would be a good shout and let Trueman and Sellars concentrate on the playing side.

The merit of appointing a young manager and coach appeals to me. Be a change from the list of usual suspects who have all been sacked and failed somewhere previously. I know it didnt work under Collins, but then again, we were a complete circus under Rahic then and handed it to Collins who clearly didnt want the role at that time

I haven't got a pre determined view of his performance either. I thought he was poor once he came on. As for why he doesn't call for the ball to his feet, given that his control and hold up play is poor, perhaps the players don't trust him.

He did. That contribution was the one bit of skill he's contributed since signing. That aside, his control was poor, his hold up play poor, he won nothing in the air, he looked unfit. We're going to need much better if we ever want to move up and out of this league.

We've won 2 games on the spin, largely through organisational discipline and resilience. Doing the ugly stuff well. Let's not adopt a rose tinted view of our attacking players all of a sudden.

That's a good thought but these two lads have found a system that works and will work even better with a few additions and maybe BRE and DMH moved on. I am just worried a new guy will change it all and bring in another system that the players can't cope with.

His hold up play and control was poor? I know you don't rate him neither do I to be honest but you need to get a grip mate. He won't win headers so there's not point in banging in the air to him. I don't think anyone is getting carried away and wearing rose tinted glasses, I'm certainly not but credit where it is due. It's only a start and we need to build on it.

He's been out for months nothing rose tinted about it let's see how he performs when selected, the way these two have set the team up I wouldnt expect him to play Novak and Guthrie together so his input will be from the bench baring injuries it's difficult to come on with 20 minutes of so to play when you missed so much game time out injured, he held the ball up and did what he was expected to do, maybe the question should be asked of Cooke 3 - 1 game over.

Not sure I entirely agree, but they have certainly eased the immediate pressure on the players.
If we have a target in mind who is #1 pick but we have to wait a few weeks to get them then I would agree but I don't think we are in that situation.
Hurst / Trueman look like the top 2 candidates and both are available immediately.
The transfer window opens in a week and we should already be working on bringing targets into the club. We can't really do that if we are still dithering about appointing a manager.
I also don't really like the idea of saying something like 'if Trueman gets 4 points from the next 2 games he gets the job' - its just another poor short term goal and isn't really fair to either Trueman or Hurst. You also have to consider that every game Trueman is caretaker what is going on with the academy? Just make the decision as it stands and do it today.

Personally would rather see Trueman continue the good work in the academy and let Hurst and Sparks sort out the first team backroom and recruitment side. But either way I'll back the decision (as long as its not someone like Woodgate)

It’s all about opinions. I’m certainly not alone in rating both his and Donaldson’s contribution as poor last night. ‘He won’t win headers’. He’s 6ft 4 - he bloody well should be. There’s no aspect of his game that’s strong.

We know how he performs when selected. He’s a crap football player. It’s nothing personal, he’s just crap. He’s been here a year and not scored a goal. I’m not on a witch hunt here - the last 3 games give much cause for optimism, they provide for a real platform, but the worst thing we could do now is be suckered into misrepresenting the issues that clearly do exist. We have a dearth of attacking talent. Novak adds some quality, Clarke has a role to play, as does Pritchard. But Guthrie, Donaldson DMH - none are good enough. We need to replace all 3, ideally in January.

And he fell over a lot when trying to hold the ball in the corner. When he stood up he kicked it out for a corner or throw in then berated the lino.

Stuart created some of those problems by rushing players back who got further injured and squeezing them into strange formations and tactics they couldn't understand. Equally, plenty of times Stuart could have picked the same team if he wanted to, he chose not to. Two sides to every tale.

We can’t just drift with caretaker managers. We need to start moving forward properly. Trueman and Sellars have done exactly what we hoped for - but lets not continue to be a reactive club. The issues that have led us to where we are have played out over 3 years or more. We can’t be distracted by the last 3 games, we need to appoint the right manager and start moving forward. Let Trueman and Sellers return to the good work they’re doing in the youth team by developing new players to support Hurst, develop as coaches themselves and then when we have a NEXT new manager, they’re ready to step in and they can do so with much more support from fans than they’d have got by taking the role now.

We need decisions from calm heads here, not hot hearts.

You assume Trueman is the genius. It could be Sellars is the main man

Just how many full games has he played, as I say I cant see T&S playing both Novak and Guthrie together but we were commenting on last nights game, where he created a great chance for Cooke and battled with the Grimsby defenders when the ball was played up to him.
I dont think many are misrepresenting our present situation, we have players coming back fro long term injuries that will take time to adapt to the game especially being brought on with 20 minutes and less to win the game.
I thought Evan's offered little but let's embrace another win without picking individual players out, enjoy the moment.

The worst thing we could do right now is busy into any notion that our problems this season are primarily about injuries. We’ve all seen more than enough of Guthrie to make an informed judgement. As I say, its not a witch hunt - its fair game that fans view performances and players differently. I’m very much enjoying moment, but I’m not going to allow that enjoyment to alter my view of what’s needed over the next few weeks.

Wondering if Holloways resignation will affect our
recruitment or not. Surely we didn't ask Holloway
to apply did we? Ha Ha, or maybe it will affect us by
changing the Hurst scenario? He got Grimsby back
into the league so represents good times for them.

Trueman and Sellers are doing a great job but the
knee jerk reaction is easy to apply. I think if we appoint
a new manager and keep Trueman/Sellers,we have two
    great candidates for the future.

This brought the Solksjaer situation to mind. Man U gave
him a trial which went on and on and they were winning
just about every game. I thought why don't they give him
the job, what more can he do? Then they did and the wheels
came off and they became terrible by their standards so
it goes to show that just making a situation permanent
can bring extra pressure and things can go wrong.

He looks disinterested and lazy, tries the odd step over, can’t head, loses the ball and falls over too easily. The cross for Cooke’s chance was one of the few positive moments I can remember from him. Don’t forget him and Novak were brought in to replace Vaughan, Patrick, Oteh and Doyle who all left in the window last January. His job is to score goals. According to soccerbase he’s made seven starts and six appearances off the bench for City. He’s scored zero.
Sure let’s give him a chance to see how he gets on under Hurst or Trueman, but he should be being advised to find a new club.
