I don't follow Halifax that closely but I think they're in a transition season after losing some of they're big players of last year. They're opponents tonight have a vastly superior budget apparently as do many teams in their league. I think Peter Wild is doing a decent job on limited resources. I don't think anyone on here is wanting to have his babies or anything but there is an admiration that is based on a little bit more than glancing at the National League league table.

The Cowleys, being roughly in the same age group as Ryan Sparks, may actually just get the job.
Maybe they can work well together.

They were tried at that level and it didn't work out.

I'm not being funny, but I'm not sure any club has shown any interest in them at all since they left Huddersfield?

I'm not saying they'll go to Barrow, but...

I don't think they're particularly appealing.

 

I dont know if you follow football in general but the sacking was due to

1. Notice how he was a manager there not a head coach. That was his pulling power at a club that was in the PL a year before. New guy in is a Head Coach
2. His record there at a club near destined for relegation was quite decent
3. He was sacked after transfer disagreements with chairman

Someone was going on about how pete wild was a "love in" but i dont understand how people think DC is a genuine target for a league two club?! Beggars belief man.

If he walks in I'll happily eat humble pie but its incredibly unlikely.

@Interested Bystander says they were of interest to Sunderland; whether they were or they weren't, I will donate £50 to the Burns Unit if I'm proved wrong and they land a Championship job next.

Bearing in mind of course that Sunderland are not a Championship club.

Maybe Sunderland did show interest, I don't know if that's a fact or not.

I certainly wouldn't credit media speculation or the bookies with affirmation that Sunderland were ever interested in the Cowley's. I'd need a little more than that.

In three months time, someone in London might be saying that Bradford City definitely had an interest in appointing Sol Campbell. I don't think that's true at all.

To my knowledge, nobody has shown an interest in the Cowleys.

Either way, they will not land a position in the Championship next.

So sure, I accept your point that Sunderland were interested in the Cowleys, and therefore there has been credible interest in hiring them.

However, I won't be retracting my Burns Unit bet of £50 that they don't land a Championship job.

 

FWIW, I think you're on pretty safe ground there mate. I reckon a L1 club with ambition is where they'll end up.

Though the longer they stall, the lower my expectations for where they end up will sink.

I am surprised to see they were linked with Sunderland, and actually admire the stated reasons for not taking the Sunderland job - but I'm not sure it was a good idea to turn down a job of that stature.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next job they took was a lower-end League One side, or even a League Two side. I can't see other high end League One sides being particularly taken with the idea it will take them a while to produce results...

 

I messaged a mate of mine who's a season ticket holder at The Shay to see his opinion on Wild:

'Young manager, very detailed. Only flaw is he has only one way of playing formation wise, very stubborn that way. When it's good, it's very good 13 goals in last 3 games. Before that 0.5 goals a game'

Make of that what you will. He's usually pretty clued up, though I'm still adamant Ross Hannah will come good and turn out to be a better singing than Vardy...

 

Cowley has 51% win record which is amazing

 

Definitely would be my choice if we could tempt him, or Lowe if he became available
