The Humiliation is complete

We were 2nd best overall last night and if we'd played three at the back they would turned more of those chances into goals.
It doesn't really matter that they are little Harrogate Town, they are a very good side, playing a high press system and moving the ball quickly when they have it and we just couldn't cope. Too many players below par and a couple out of position. Unlike the last time he was here McCall hasn't got the players to play the way he wants them to and he needs to get his head around that quickly

 

Seems not much has changed

 

Its a hell of a story, and not a good one (for us). Any football clubs still in league business got a worse record over the last two decades?

 

Bolton, Wigan no excuses last night was not acceptable 4 games in or not, I'd think we are in a better position than either of the above two, but without doubt big improvements required on the pitch.

 

It won't be long before people start
taking Harrogate seriously.We didn't
but others will after last night.

Just because nobody has ever looked
to Harrogate as being any kind of home
for serious football, they will now, because
they are a team that will compete easily
at this level of they continue as they are.

 

theyre a very average team this is L2, but they have a system that works and play as a settled team, we havent had that for a long time now.

 

Not sure we are (In a better position) but lets face it we are a football league basket case that's resorted to existing and has zero chance of promotion anytime soon.

This club is rotten. A shambles on and off the pitch. We are being let down badly.

i had tried to be positive but last tonight hit the message home after lets face it a bang average start to the season.

 

To certain people on here such as @Bronco @Keefly Bantam going backwards is acceptable.

It was poor last night I havent seen one post being positive about last nights performance, but as you say it is the start of the season.
I was critical of both the formation and what looked like a lack of effort from some, the annoying aspect to me is that we bring in loans and dont play them, we saw the lad Hosannah play against Wolves he played well getting forward, I would have expected him to start, maybe starting the lad Samuels was asking too much but after that shocking team performance could the kid be any worse.
Things need to improve and quickly, last night performance was unacceptable.

Fair shout on the signings, seems to be the way , new signings , bench. To be honest im not sure they would have made any difference the tactics were well off that rubbish diamond or whatever it is he employs with clarke , leaving gaps out wide, need to go back to basics

 

Aren't you forgetting that before yesterday, we were unbeaten at home in almost a YEAR. A YEAR. Surely that makes us a good side? Way too big to be in this division.

 

He mentioned something in his post match interview, why he chose the diamond. I didn't catch what he said. Anyone?

 

Anyone remember losing 3 0 at home to Accrington?

Felt like the worst result ever at the time.

Possibly the most embarrassed I've ever felt as a City fan.

 

From a coaching veiwpoint I would guess he played the diamond to hopefully play through the middle of the Harrogate line up and starve their wide players of the ball - but as it turned out they dominated midfield which meant their wingbacks had a field day against our very narrow midfield. To play the diamond you HAVE to have the right players and not square pegs in round holes as occurred last night.

2 managers lined up their teams to try and dominate the opposition in different ways but there was only one tactical winner last night and it sure werent McC!

 

No I agree the new lads wouldn't have made any difference in that side last night, I just thought after his performance against Wolves Hosannah might have got a start natural RB, I think he could get a start at Mansfield.

 

I’m not going to right off Samuels on the basis of 20 minutes, but he didn’t look like the answer to our goal scoring problems. Hopefully just debut nerves.

 

I think last night usurped that as the worst result and most embarrassing, following City. I was too shocked watching such an inept performance against a club playing several tiers below only 3 years ago, to even shout at the telly. It did make me thankful that I wont see them again until probably next August
