We have to go back to 2006, the season before the cheap tickets policy was introduced, to have sold fewer than 9,000 STs.

I know it's an unusual situation at the moment and there was bound to be some fall off in numbers but let's put it into context. It's more than a third fewer STs than what was expected to be sold when the club was making its plans for welcoming fans back into VP. It's equivalent to losing about 50% of our total revenue from ticket sales over a season. That's going to hurt at some point and who knows what impact it might have on SMc's recruitment plans. Hopefully, we'll sell more matchday tickets with a spare 2.500 empty seats every game but there's no guarantee that will happen and we don't attract many walk-ups in normal times

Talking of season tickets. I was reading an article at the weekend about how proud Irving Weaver was as chairman of Harrogate in their first game as a football league club on Saturday. He went onto mention that when he took the helm at Harrogate, they had 7 season ticket holders!

There was an FAQ page somewhere, im pretty sure the rest of the seats will be on general sale. This why i think they will still split as it effectively doubles tickets to sell. Does mean we could go to every game... Just costs a small fortune!

Maybe so, but i do think numbers will cilmb back over the seasons. Redundancies are rife across the board so some cant afford to renew just yet. We are seeing similar across the board at other clubs too.

Hard to gauge if it’s a good total or not until we can see what sort of effect it has had on other clubs, still a concern Covid or not that we had over 18,000 season ticket holders at the start of the 17/18 season at the same price or it may have been £20 more actually or was that the season after? Either way I hope the club have some strategy in place to get some of them lost fans back from next season onwards.

I would imagine the majority of 'lost' season ticket holders, such as me, will gladly come back on board again for season 2021/2022, assuming Covid has been controlled and unlimited capacity is once again available.

Excellent total considering the impact of COVID-19, not to mention a couple of poor seasons.

My only concern is that my season ticket seat, along with the empty seats either side, is potentially blocking 2 or 3 others from attending matches, when I have no intention of going under the current situation.

If only City could have sold a 'iFollow only' season ticket, to be iFollow only until such time as the restrictions are lifted.

Isn't that virtually what they have done..?

But they are also allocating me a seat in the ground, that I won't be using, whilst the current restrictions remain in place. A seat that could be depriving others of the chance to attend.

If the maximum gate per game is going to be 7,000, then having sold 4,520 in the different groupings, is still going to see a lot of spare capacity. I would think that quite a few will have bought season tickets, but for reasons of Covid and other issues, will not attend the actual game. I would think the real attendance at games will be in the 3,000-3,500 region.

Even without Covid we were 6,000 down in only 2 seasons. Some will find other things to do on a Saturday if the product is poor, it’s not as simple as just wait for Covid to be over and the figures will go back to what they were. We need a proactive marketing plan to get bums on seats next season, obviously on the pitch is most important. But I think it’s needs a more aggressive marketing strategy, I have social media etc and rarely saw anything on them. Mason for his critics new how too get people’s attention, Ryan could learn a thing or two from him. He’s been dealt a difficult hand, but it’s no guarantee that everyone will come back.

If spare tickets do go on sale then i'd expect them to go on offer first to season ticket holders with tickets for the other part of the split. That said, would it be right to charge them again when you've effectively paid for a season ticket already? In a theoretical scenario if the current capacity is expanded i want to be able to see those games as part of my season ticket and not have to pay again.

Latest figures, with increasing estimated infections a month ago and reducing deaths now, are suggesting Covid is no longer generating a worse mortality rate than average seasonal flu. Vulnerable people will still need to be careful if flu and Covid circulate together, meaning twice the chance of severe illness from flulike viruses. However, it means that most normal people will have no major risk and football with crowds will be back on the agenda.

The season ticket sales of the Parkinson era were built on the back of successful football, Mason was in the right place at the right time. Sparks doesn't have that luxury and a fall off in numbers was always going to happen. Last seasons numbers were still high despite relegation with factors such as fans still sticking by them on the back big name transfers and a big wage budget. If we have a poor season this time round the numbers will fall from that season, i'd expect above this seasons number but by how much who knows? The salary cap is a deal breaker though, Rupp doen't have the pressure of funding a big wage budget at £1.5 million so ticket sales aren't as big a factor finance wise as before.

I'd like to think that current STs will get first dibs on spare tickets. I'm not convinced that will happen since from the club's perspective, ST fans are getting access to iFollow to make up for the missed games. I suspect it will be first come, first served for any unallocated ticket. I'll wait and see whether there are sufficient fans to buy the other 2,500 or so spares!

But that doesn't fit the medias agenda of scaring the living daylights out of everyone. Honestly we're being fed so much bullshit with thsi virus.

They should get first dibs on them but should they have to pay for them? If we do its not the famous £150 season ticket anymore, the mantra our club is bulit on.

I would be really surprised if even some ST fans were allowed to take up the spare capacity for nothing. That's now how JR thinks! I'm sure they'll go on sale and at best ST fans might get priority or maybe at say half price.

I'd be very disappointed if that was the case.
