Humphrys absolutely tore us a new arsehole when he played here for southend a few years ago. One of the best individual performances by an opposition player I've seen in recent years at VP. Think it was his debut too and I remember this board being full of praise for the lad because he was everything we were missing at the time in a striker.

Head in the sand or not Stefan allowed his partner to miss use his money not aware of what was going on at the club , if it had not been for 2 City fans giving Rupp the actual situation at Valley Parade God only knows where our club would be, so I'd suggest the comment of head in the sand was just about right at the time.
It looks like he's putting his faith in Julian rather than maybe a monthly visit to over see his investment, even though he has little knowledge with regards football, maybe "dummkopf" is more appropriate.

Thank you! Absolutely what I meant by “he’s got history”. Quite often people get successfully rich by focussing on one thing and getting it 100% right. Clearly that’s not what he’s doing with Bradford City.

It's the first time I've heard 3 but you could be correct, shame Rupp obviously had far too much trust in his partner to not even know the situation Rahic had people working under at Valley Parade and of course his underhand dealings.

I'm not sure Dicko said it. I think it was Lawn who claimed that was the reasoning.

Large pinch of salt with that one. Like you say it makes little sense.

    This is interesting:

    http://www.footballsquads.co.uk/eng/2020-2021/fltwo.htm

Basically, a list of squads for each club. By clicking in and out, there’s one thing that you’ll be able to identify straight away; most clubs currently have a squad of 16-18 pros (apart from Bolton).

The likes of Oldham and Southend are very thin in numbers.

Useful website. It highlights that the cap in spending and the reduction in the number of players allowed, will have an impact on all League2 clubs.

I am fairly sure that discussion about the ‘lack of signings’ will be taking place amongst supporters of all clubs.

The fact is that there are going to be a lot of unemployed footballers out there, as the reality of the change hits home.

I guess a lot more of the Under 21 players could be kept on at clubs, only to be dispensed of when they are no longer eligible for that classification.

Personally I think 25 and perhaps a £1.8- 2Million cap would have been more realistic and allowed for more individual types of clubs/teams to develop, the current limits in my opinion are too low.

I agree, and hopefully this season will show that the current limits are unworkable before they try to reduce squad sizes even further - isn't the aim to get them down to 20? That shouldn't be allowed to happen.

I don't imagine they'll change the age criterion in the squad size since that's already hardwired into the PL rules for the PL itself and the PL clubs' involvement in the European competitions. The EFL won't be stepping out of line from the PL rules!

I'm still of the view that a single salary cap in each of the two leagues does nothing to promote better governance at the clubs. The EFL would have been better sticking with the 'old' SCMP cap which was largely related to an individual club's turnover and success in the cups (rather than a fixed amount) and then done something additional to stop wealthy owners subsidising their clubs and loading them up with too much debt. But that idea has been discarded. If the clubs get their act together and collectively agree to increase the cap then the EFL wouldn't be able to stop it being revised but I don't expect it to be changed radically in the near future.

Agree. There should (could) be a mechanism which prevents owners either individually or through some organisation, which they wholly own, making loans. A rigorous FFP system, which means that expenditure is clearly linked to income is the way forward. It should also prevent owners from sponsoring their own clubs, through some other business/organisation they own.

How many players have you ever heard bagging a manager? You can probably count them on the fingers of one hand.

It is almost career suicide to make comments on how bad a manager was/is. You are looking to move and a manager looks at you and thinks...nah look at what he said about the last guy he was under. Clearly a troublemaker. It is one of those unwritten rules and with a small number of exceptions until they are completely out of the game you don't bad mouth managers. Even after retirement most ex-players seem to stick to the same script.

So your comment is pretty meaningless.

Dunno if there’s actually any interest in benny-seal from wolves but they signed a striker today could free one up to leave.

Reducing squad sizes isnt an issue for me. 20 senior pros at our level, boosted by 4/5 kids is ample enough surely.

If it can reduce bloated squads, reduce wage bills and maybe in time, reduce ticket prices its a winner for me. In theory it should improve the quality and also give youth an opportunity.
It is the same for everybody - not just us penalised.

As for unemployed footballers - there is a big wide world out there - including non league and Scotland. If you are good enough, you will be snapped up. For those that aren't, then tough.

He is going out on loan. Forest prefer div 1 rather than Div 2. I had heard Blackpool. Good attacking RB but needs to better defensively ( would fit in well at City!)

If you listen to the post match interview yesterday McCall hinted they may may turn their attention to other positions after watching French in training and in the game. With Sutton who can also play there
