I imagine so, the only place I've seen mention him and us together are the dodgy EFL rumour accounts who were adamant we were in for Tshimanga. I can't believe we're in the big year of 2020 and there's still people out there taking what those accounts have to say with any sort of credibility.

 

Let's hope it is his team mate Cal Robert's that's coming instead. However, I would imagine Notts Co will be able to pay him more than us to stay there, either that, or we wouldn't be able to afford the likely transfer fee they would require

Depends on what the deal is with Tranmere. If they pay a decent fee for Vaughan than that money has to be used to strengthen and getting in Roberts and Tshimanga (I'm greedy), would certainly do that and show some ambition and intent. However, this is City so it's more likely we'll let him go for nowt, continue to pay a percentage of his wages and let him score a hatrick against us.

I get sceptical with these "can also play...." scenarios. If he comes and plays all his games at right back competently then that will do for me!

I know Wood had a good season last time out but it would worry me to have two fairly inexperienced full backs playing along side a centre back pairing that hasn't been that good for the last couple of seasons.

Agreed. I would be very surprised if the majority of clubs aren't heavily reliant on wyscout and use of "the ipad". I think its fair to say that our near neighbours have earned quite a lot of plaudits lately for their recruitment, squad building and scouting, here are a few quotes from their Director of Football Victor Orta:

"One is the technical level and if you want to minimize the risks you can use tools like Wyscout to monitor player for all the time you need... thanks to tools like Wyscout, information is everywhere, at hand, even for smaller clubs. Nowadays, the key is to be quick in creating knowledge with the information that you receive. That’s how to be a successful scouting department. But Wyscout changed football, it made the difference in terms of recruitment...It’s so much easier for me to have everything I need in one place."

Obviously I'd expect our use of wyscout to be on a much more scaled back version of what other teams higher up the leagues can do due to resource. But its fair to say that sitting on "the ipad" is seen as an acceptable and likely a more efficient route of scouting providing that it forms part of other checks such as profiling the player and their fitness.

Wyscout is packed full of data that then needs collating into a useable transfer policy. This needs a team in the background who's job it is to fully evaluate and process this data then liaising with the management team to ensure the data is understood and used to its advantage. Watching match highlights and you tube videos doesn't cover it.

Leeds employ a director of football overseeing a team of scouts and base their recruitment on a physical opinion of the player as well as the data and analytics produced by organisations such as WyScout, in order to identify for themselves, emerging talent. This being in line with their recruitment policy. This isn't Bielsa sat with his ipad, watching highlights of a player an agent has just come up with. It's not even comparable to our 'setup'.
