I know it happens a lot but isn't that already disallowed in footie? Is it OK for players to kiss each other (not full on sex of course!) on the pitch? ;)

It is all nonsensical. It appears to me that completing the rest of the season in order to fulfil the club's commercial arrangement with the major sponsors is taking precedence over sensible health decisions. And we all know who really holds the purse strings.

I have a much simpler solution. End the season now but do not declare it null and void as a few want; upscale the current points to determine auto promotions and CL and distribution positions in the PL. Don't have play-offs in the EFL and don't relegate teams from either the PL or the EFL. Yes, it will lead to an imbalanced league structure for a season but that can be resolved 'next' season by revising promotion/relegation numbers accordingly and cutting out one of the cups. And that doesn't impact on players' contractual positions or the transfer system. But of course, the downside is that clubs will lose out on some of the remaining Sky/BT payments.

Think I read somewhere Sky have already guaranteed they will pay the tv money regardless of what happens. I will try dig it out to show I’m not making it up

My understanding is that Sky has agreed to pay out full distribution money for positions if the season is shortened but not the TV broadcasting element which has a 'per game' component. I don't know about BT. And the foreign TV broadcasters which is very much a per game regime would only pay for the games televised. In which case, shortening the season would mean the clubs not being paid for any more foreign
    broadcasts.

Yes, the PL clubs will lose money (and serious money) but if the season is shortened, they could always ask their players to forego some of their salaries or even furlough some more staff! God forbid that they'd have to reduce dividends to their shareholders.

Yes I think you’re correct. Sky and Bt would probably be the easier ones to negotiate with. Not so much the foreign companies

That sort of approach I can get behind. There are no perfect solutions, but pragmatism and common sense need to take the lead.

Why don't relegate teams? I don't get that at all.

So what you say is don't relegate Norwich for example put promote Leeds and West Brom mean Fulham etc miss out?

If no relegation I see no promotion to the PL. PL clubs are not going to agree on more games.

As for the cups a chairman says cancelling them won't work as league 1 & 2 clubs make money from them. We should know as Rhodes counts on them.

If the the season has to come to an end let's stop be like a set of cowards.. average points per game. Teams at the bottom go down, those and the top go up. Play offs happen when football is back 3-2 weeks before or no plays offs and top 3 of each division go up based on average points

Simple! But for me we finish the season whenever that is.

Sky are thinking about Sky. They will say this and then in bidding for rights will pay less and will BT.

Businesses like that always get their money back. Do you think you won't be paying for their pausing of sky sports option in the long run.

Common sense and pragmatism. No relegations simply means no challenges, potentially through the courts or CAS, to the footballing authorities by the affected teams. Promoted teams are hardly going to complain, now are they?

Just don't see clubs in PL wanting more games! So if no regelation will mean no promotion to PL.

If you can't see the extra traffic on the road then I can't help you.

And the top three were never on the lockdown list.

haven’t checked the bottom one, but the government haven’t changed the regulations, just companies deciding to open

Scottish football might be overturning their decision to end the season for lower tiers.

Meeting on the 12th of May.
