Don't be fooled. We are not doing great.

Calls for Hancock to resign, fears that NHS staff will go on strike because they feel let down and putting themselves at risk without the equipment

    I have noticed differences too.

I went to Sainsburys at Greengates for 3 weeks and noticed how well organised it was. A bit of a queue to get in, which is fair enough, however once inside I felt they had let in a comfortable amount of people, fellow shoppers all acting respectfully, and then straight through the tills.

Contrast that to my only visit to Morrisons, which was last Wednesday. No security on door counting people in and out, seemed to be far too many in the store, fellow shoppers rudely reaching over you to take products off the shelves, organised queue for tills which was fine, however I had to remonstrate with one shopper who sneaked through a cordoned off area to jump the queue.

Back to Sainsburys for me next week, and indeed in future when the lockdown is over

that is strange because everytime I’ve been to
Morrisons there has been someone on the front door counting people in and out. Not been for over a week though so it may have changed.

got day off on Monday so will pop in then and get my 10% discount

I was surprised too. Went at 8.30am last Wednesday.

The other thing I noticed was the little garden centre near the entrance had quite a few people inside paying for plants. If you are familar with the little structure, more than two inside is a crowd, but again, no organisation.

That's an interesting comment about Sweden and the comparison with other parts of Scaninavia.

And we don't compare well to any of that ...

15,464 deaths in UK hospitals (excluding deaths in social care and in the community) in a population of 66mill.

That's a death rate of 234 per million pop and that's only hospital deaths.

Comforting lies again. There’s always one rogue scientist that folk latch on to, despite all the evidence pointing one way. Much like climate change.

in mitigation there are 777 people per Square mile in the Uk and we have the second highest density in Europe. In large swathes of the country people live on top of each other in this country which must make it harder to control. Some countries have much better natural social distancing

Spain are currently 431 per million and Italy at 384. But obviously we are still having large numbers of deaths

This is the post I was telling Fordy to read RT. The same problem has affected the whole supply chain to some degree, PPE the very worst affected.

Yes, different countries have very different average densities. But most of Europe doesn't live in 'average' densities. Most of the people in Europe live in close proximity to others in conurbations or urban areas where population densities are very similar and therefore social distancing is equally difficult.

It's a weird one is the USA, because it's effectively a series of completely disparate States all merged into one massive country. Some of the idiocy in the US knocks most other countries out of the park - but don't mistake the loonies as representing the ENTIRE country for the same reason you obviously can't mistake the Bible belt for representing the States on Western or North East coast. Things couldn't be more different.

Thank goodness the majority of them don't have a passport, means they can't infect the rest of the world with their utter stupidity.
