It's just the same as our signings under Edin. Buy cheap, pay twice.
To be honest, I'm suprised we haven't been fined. Maybe this is the only way Herr Rupp will understand. Imagine his motor cars racing on a horse track like we play on - don't think he'd stand for that.

Can we please get rid of him and get someone in who actually likes football?

from what I remember, wasn't the work done on the drainage system? if that's the case then the drainage system worked as there were no heavy areas of standing water like the images that were leaked on friday showed.

if the club decided not to continue with the up keep of the playing surface last summer and reduce the budget for that then the current have to take the responsibility.

Isn't it something to do with an old wall or somesorts under the pitch?
Basic fact is, it all needs digging up, as far down as they need to, and building up again from bottom to top. There was also some BS about not having enough room to get the cranes in? All sounds like excuses to me. Ambition is all about overcoming obstructions, not blaming/using them as an reason not to progress.

Problem is, who is likely to spend millions on a place you dont own.

It is imperative to me that the next owners, whenever that is, makes plans to buy the ground back

Isn't it the landlords responsibility to provide accommodation suitable or fit for purpose?

Surely they knew of the under pitch issues when they rented the ground out?

When the work was done on the pitch during Edins tenure I remember seeing pictures of the drains that were installed and a picture of the man in charge stood in one of the trench with only his head and shoulders above ground. Tried without success to find these pictures either on the City website or the T and A.

surely the people renting it knew as well. So they were equally informed

Obviously not as deep as I thought but some sort of drainage was definitely installed . Perhaps it's the work during the close season that was neglected. Bowing greens are regularly hollow tined scarified and top dressed to aid drainage and strong root growth it's quite an expensive process maybe that's the reason.

I think that most on BT will know that Valley Parade is built on the site of a former quarry. I have a recollection that I have read something along the lines that when they built the Archibald Leitch Main Stand (South Parade), that the engineers at the time used large amounts of (Ferro) Concrete, to provide substantial foundations and stop the stand, sinking into the old quarry and that these foundations extended under the playing surface. Now that could have an impact on the drainage, for a substantial section of the pitch. Perhaps @Jason McKeown@Jason McKeown or @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler can clarify whether or not that is the case.

You buy the ground back and then you have zero excuses for not renovating. It’s easy to stand there and say, or allow it to be implied, why should we spend money when it’s not ours.

So what we have to do then is relay the pitch at least twice a season. Summer and winter.

Like @Park bantam@Park bantam says the water is draining, so if the grass isn't growing then unfortunately the pitch has to be relaid twice a season, every season.

If not the we have to spend a hell of a lot of money getting experts in and to fix the problem.

The club are trying to cut corners and as we don't own the stadium and have to pay for maintenance I can't blame them.

    Far too easy !!!
When you buy a car on lease it's never yours but you still have to put fuel in
Everything has got to be maintained
    Very poor from the club

Did we not win pitch of the year a few seasons back?, these old foundations that are being mentioned must have gone on holiday for 12 months and then came back. We could do with asking the people who were in charge of the pitch then, how they produced this miracle.

Unless you negotiate a fuel card paid by the leasing company to go with the car.

Point is it boils down to poor negotiation. We clearly looked at the over all rent price and not taken in to factors the repairs to the stadium or the pitch.

When you rent a house the landlord has to pay for repairs but clearly when renting a football stadium we didn't discuss things like this.

Until we own our our stadium we will always have a problem because we won't look into things quick enough. We won't care enough.
