I don't think many would disagree with that point, the only thing I could think of was Bowyer saying "last season has gone it's a clean sheet "then leaving him on the bench might have made Doyle think differently, especial if he was giving it his all in training etc, it's a strange one I just hope if Doyle does return he hits the goal trail straight away obviously for the benefit of the club and himself or without doubt some will have a go.

 

Don't think he got 23 chances last season.

 

How do you know Doyle won't take the penalties if he returns though? Or perhaps Vaughan misses the next one and then Doyle steps in?

Just state the actual goals he scores, it's not like we're discounting Vaughan's penalties when we discuss his place in the team.

 

You always need a back up for every position and a number of us pointed out how we didn't have this upfront right from the off. Doyle is an alternative to Vaughan not Donaldson, and we need a backup for the latter in case he gets injured again.

 

Donaldson played in those prior 10 games I mentioned. That was the point!

True but in his last four games they had worked out the best way to get the best of the squad they had at the time after all we had nearly a new Squad the return of Donaldson gives us options we don’t have at the moment

 

Most of what you post on here is correct and normally accurate but I would dispute the bit about Doyle missing sitters week in, week out for us. All goal scorers, even prolific ones. The truth is Doyle was having to do a lot of work outside the box.
Swindon fans say that Yates does a work that allows Doyle room to drift into the right areas, something that Richie Wellens maybe did with him when he had him on loan at Oldham.
I saw most of the games last season and he's I saw Doyle miss some chances but , "sitters week in week out" no.

No they didn't. You've just cherry picked a small sample of games that back up your opinion and pretended it means something.

You're not disputing what I said about Doyle.

You're saying all strikers miss chances, thereby accepting Doyle missed chances most weeks.

He did.

The difference is he's been getting a LOT more chances at Swindon.

 

All you have to do is read last season's match reports, hit CTRL+F and enter Doyle.

In almost every game, there are shots from close range that miss the target, are blocked, or are saved - some chances harder than others.

Blackpool in particular was a 'mare for Doyle and summed up his form at the time.

Perhaps he was unlucky, as League One defenders were much closer to him for two reasons: They're better than League Two defenders, and because we didn't have the players to draw defenders away from Doyle enough.

Actually if you watch the highlights, Doyle is right in the middle of the penalty area in most attacks - but when the ball wasn't making it's way right to him, he had nothing unfortunately.

 

IF he comes back I hope he sits out - I much prefer what we’ve got.
So long as Swindon dont have him, I don’t care. Sit him in the stands or leave him at home.
If we do play him I bet he can’t match half the goals he’s scored already this season (regardless of our formation or tactics).
Looking forward to seeing Swindon sink to mid table if he does.

Vaughan is untouchable with some.

You never discount penalties. Ludicrous to do so in order to suit your agenda.

 

I'd forget Doyle last season. Low on confidence. Playing loan man. In a crap team. Harder league.

If any position relies on confidence....
