Boris has a full deck to play with now, including his trump card if required.

Wasn't really goading though was it? No more than he's done on this thread towards anyone who isn't a labour supporter.

Three points from Orient might just stop me from throwing myself in the Thames.

I can't remember feeling more politically despondent since the day Thatcher got elected. This rivals even that. I'm convinced we have made a historic national mistake of epic proportions that our kids and grandkids will never forgive us for.
But, unlike the referendum, which was botched, unspecified and very close, there can be no arguing with this result. The people have spoken. Traditional Labour voters like you have decided that another likely decade, at least, of Tory rule is a price worth paying to leave the EU.
I can't deny that it totally baffles me. I just cannot see what Brexit is going to do for this country except hasten its economic decline and jeopardise our protections and food & environmental standards. And that's additional to the damage that ten more years of Tory government will do.

We lost. You won. Enjoy it for now. But if it all goes tits up and we end up with an unaffordable NHS because of massive US drug prices then Brexiteers will have no one else to blame but themselves.

Johnson is in Dreamland if he believes that the healing can begin now. The country is hopelessly split between Remainers and Brexiteers and between social conservatives and left of centre social liberals. The Labour Party is largely composed of the latter whilst its traditional areas of support are largely the former. As such I think the LP will be in the wilderness for many years to come while the Tories have free reign to keep making the rich richer and the poor poorer.

Cheer up, Boris may indeed makes us poorer but Corbyn would have bankrupted the country where schools and hospitals would close altogether while mortgages would have gone through the roof with thousands homeless,
So cheer up you have the better option and who knows Boris might just surprise you and be a good PM

Im out of this country this is the final straw. Moving my company with me i have a flat in the netherlands, ill lose my airbnb revenue but i could always airbnb my UK flat. My clients are all UK based so if they stay afloat after brexit that money wont be paid into the UK coffers. Not paying into this society any more.

You all thought the billionaires would leave but i know a lot of hard working remainers who are doing the same as me. You lot can call me all the words under the sun but i never asked for a referendum. I grew up in bradford moor, parents didnt have a lot, I paid for all my own education and worked every day of my life since leaving uni in 2007. Ive been very poor at times and then in 2011 I taught myself a skill and ended up showing businesses how to make more money in Google and since then ive done well.

I was tarnished with the 'middle class' snob brush, member of the 'liberal elite'. When all i did was work hard at school and work hard all my life to stop being poor. I havent had a week off work since june and in 2019 that week i had off was my only week off.

Im fed up with taking 2 steps forward and then being dragged back by other people who are not happy with their lot in life. Ive been a life long labour voter, always happy to pay my way. Those days are done, ill leave this country, ill never vote again.

Those who disagree with me can now begin to rip me apart for being a traitor... go ahead.

No point in going over old ground Steve but the opposition parties could have voted for the May deal, unfortunately they thought between them they could scupper the referendum, if not get a watered down deal so it was very similar to what we have now.
Like it or not the other parties let you down playing there game of bluff, this result has to be put firmly at their door.

Just to give this some perspective from a massive remain voter, Brexit was only an issue at this election to Leavers, and boy did leavers in the north make their feelings known!
Unfortunately, as a European AND conservative voter, like vast swathes of the south, when push came to shove I couldn’t put my cross against labour. I voted conservative and felt a little ashamed when I walked out of the polling booth. On Brexit I voted against everything I hold dear, however labours looney left wing policies would have bankrupted the country. So I’ve helped to vote out the sitting labour MP and put A clown into Downing Street, democracy in North Korea is better than this!
BTW......before anyone attacks me for not voting Lib Dem, what’s the point, if we had proportional representation I would have done without hesitation, however most seats are two party including mine, would have been a wasted vote!
PS.......When the dust settles expect a lot of angry remain supporters to come out of the woodwork

I think among Remain voters and particularly Labour voters there’s a huge amount of despondency today. Whether you agree with them or not, that was a devastating blow to your chances of anything you believe happening anytime soon.

That’s going to lead to an awful lot of really poor takes made purely in anger over the next few days. There’s already been several. For a lot of people this was the rubicon that’s crossed the point of no return, and it’s a sharp realisation, however much you expected it.

People on the left of centre need some time to think about how to appeal to those who chose elsewhere. It’s not other people’s fault that Labour didn’t do enough to persuade them. Getting rid of Corbyn this morning isn’t a silver bullet, there’s so, so much more that needs doing.
