For all clubs loans are a necessary evil. Usually, loans are of young players unable to break into a higher club’s 1st XI and are sent out for experience. Some work out, some don’t.

Yates falls into that category just about. Very different with Doyle and Grant. Both in their 30s, both very experienced, parent clubs both wanted them out for different reasons.

Doyle for financial, Grant for disciplinary.

It’s the way it works for lower league clubs. Tbh, if it was a choice between keeping Grant or Doyle in January, it’d be a close run thing. Grant is MoM almost every game.

It’s almost a certainty Grant will stay as Shrewsbury want nothing to do with him.

Most Bradford fans know what’s happening. He ain’t coming back. You see, much as we love our club, we’re also well accustomed to the fact that we’re a bit tin pot and sit somewhere between being utterly unambitious and utterly incompetent in fulfilling what semblance of a plan and ambition we do have. Paying half the wages for your own striker to go and score a shit ton of goals for a ‘promotion rival’ while you struggle for goals yourself is about the most Bradford City thing ever. Not recalling him and making the deal permanent in January is even more Bradford City.

Quick lads, all those having a go at Swindons loan signings, let's all pretend we don't have Cooke, Oteh, Palmer, Devitt and Connolly.

With Cooke being beyond our means, according to press reports, just like Doyle is/was at Swindon.

We're all playing the same game. We don't have any superiority!

I'd certainly be happy to pretend we didn't have Oteh.

I reckon we will only consider recalling Doyle if Donaldson isnt fit to return in the New Year

    Based on what mate?

Wouldn't that be utter foolish considering he has more goals than Vaughan and Donaldson put together?

    We need him back mate.

"The Eoin Doyle situation at Swindon is also likely to impact on what could happen, although neither club have commented publicly on whether there is a similar clause in his season-long loan.

Bowyer admits that any business will depend on the fitness of long-term casualties such as Clayton Donaldson, Matty Palmer, Jordan Gibson and Jamie Devitt.

He added: “With who we’ve got coming back from injury, you need to see where they are and how far off they are or not.

As things stand now I doubt Vaughan and Donaldson will score as many as Doyle has now. It makes total sense to recall him now.

I'd rather we send Palmer and Devitt back and recall Doyle - goals are far more important than 2 midfielders that have contributed very little this season.

Hard to contribute when they've been injured.

Bigger problem is, if he comes back is GB willing to change his system and allow a poacher type in Doyle to play his natural way. If he comes back and plays as we have been, it will be back to Doyle 1 every 4 or 5 games for the rest of the season as our forwards play back to goal and too far from goal to even have a prayer of getting 20 a season.

100% agree. I like Devitt but we have Reeves back. Palmer hasn't produced to the standards we thought he could. So I would send them back if it meant Doyle coming back.

Gibson doesn't count as he's not in the picture.

That's kind of what I was getting at. Palmer did nothing before his injury so can only base it on that, Devitt I wasn't sure of anyway but has spent all his time here out injured.

We have a striker who's top scorer playing for someone else - its a no brainer to be honest.

1 in 4 is still more than 0 in 16

He's got too mate or we won't go up. Vaughan game isn't based on how he is playing now.

Only Bradford City fans would think like this. He's the top goal scorer in the country. He needs to come back.

I don't read it as that.

I read it as the injuries could effect what players we bring in if any over the Jan window.

The Doyle situation will have nothing to do with the injuries we currently have to players.

No brainer I agree, i'm just not sold as everyone else seems to be that he will come in and carry on the same form, given the way we play with our forwards.

If he recalls him and uses him as he was before, defending in his own half while Vaughan or Donaldson were the only man left up for the break of hoof chase, or playing too deep to get meaningfully involved in attacks it will just be a kick in the teeth to his talents and the fans that know what he can do.

Based on the hint in the T&A today about recruitment.

I am with you though Fordy. He should be recalled.

He doesn't have to do what he does at Swindon. 50% of his goals would still make him top goal scorer.

It's also about having options which we currently don't in the forward line. Bowyer has no one to turn too.

You say this about how Bowyer uses his forwards and I agree but he must think McCartan is utter pants because he would perfect for how he plays but he plays Vaughan and like Doyle his game is about getting into the box, so Bowyer needs to sharpen up because he's looking like a manager that doesn't know how to get the best out of his forwards at this moment.
