Maddison been there and linked away for years now. Pretty sure he spent a while on the transfer list when his contract was running down - DA wanted to cash in on him but nobody came in and he signed a new deal - surprising.

Pretty much gets into double figures for Posh each season. Hard to find a consistent goal scoring Midfielder in the lower leagues. Think he is on a freebie in the summer...

 

He might not want to come back, but I’m pretty sure for personal pride Doyle will want to end the season as top scorer, so I’ve no concerns he’d down tools. The only question is can we provide him with the ammo he’s getting at Swindon.

 

With Connolly, Pritchard, Cooke, Ismael and Devitt to come back? Absolutely.

 

Top scorer chart is nice for our ex-players.

He’s not getting really outstanding ammo though....his xG is 8 goals, but he’s been prolific and scored twice as many as expected from the service he’s received.

City have a better xG figure than Swindon home and away. He’d likely get better service here now Connolly, Pritchard and Ismael are flying, with Cooke pulling the strings.

 

5 in 17 for the over rated Vaughan. And we are seriously debating Doyle coming back?

 

Vaughan has been very underwhelming so far this season. Am I right in thinking we gave him a 3 year contract too?

 

Cup defeat probably puts an end to Doyle coming back due to FFP, unless we give back the players we brought in or manage to get a high earned off the books.

 

The only way we can get him back now is to offload the likes of Akpan, Anderson, Patrick and Devine to free up wages. Cannot see any takers for any of them though, couldnt give them away

 

Tbf Akpans probably on 3/4 times more than the other 3 combined, they’re probably on £30 a week plus a mars bar.

He's as effective as Doyle was because we're using him in the same way. We could have played Messi up front in this system and he'd look like a carthorse.

Tonight's result makes it even more unlikely you will see your friend in a City shirt again

 

Which of those chances would Doyle have scored tonight? We just don't create enough and Doyle would look just as lost as he did when he played for us before. At Swindon he plays in a formation and strike partner that suits him down to the ground.

 

I agree and to be honest that's quite an embarrassing reality for our coaching staff.
