Totally agree I'd rather get cook permanently if swindon sign doyle or pay more of his wages. Don't think doyle wants to come back anyway. And doyle wouldn't have scored 13 goals if he'd stayed with us. Prob b on bench. Don't get all this slagging off of donaldson and Vaughan either. Some players just click at certain clubs and doyle obviously suits Swindons style and wellens gets the best out of him. But as some have said got to give swindon ultimatem sign him or stump up more cash.

my own opinion is that unless we get to January and promotion is nailed which it won't be then we shouldn't say no to recalling the best striker in the league, especially when it's not going to break the bank to do so. Admittedly, it becomes less of an issue if Vaughan starts banging them in but at the moment that's based on pure fantasy and it'll be back to square one if he gets injured anyway. You'd much rather have 2 goal scorers in the squad than 1, and I think Bowyer aswell as any other manager in the country will agree with that too.

Teams literally spend millions and millions of pounds on 20+ goal a season men and you're debating whether we should recall our own prolific hitman for an additional 2-3k a week,in a season where our strikers are struggling for goals?

I'm debating whether we WILL, and working out the reasons why I feel we probably won't.

Good reply mate, I believe @Storck@Storck made a comment with regards the return or not of Doyle which I'd not given a lot of thought to until I read his post.
If he keeps helping Swindon win games against other rival promotion teams would that not benefit City more than bringing him back and hoping he can continue his goal scoring form or stick him on the bench so he couldn't help Swindon to get promoted.

    Sack Gary Boywer then.

Anyone who can't get Doyle scoring in league 2 isn't any good anyway.

TBH, I'm sick of hearing about Doyle.
He scored goals before he came to us, he looked crap when he played for us (with or without good service), and he is scoring goals now for someone else.
Move on, we will go up without him.

Bowyer might even be reluctant to bring him back on that basis. Leave him there and he can claim it's a budgetary necessity. Bring him back and fail to get him scoring, and questions will be asked.

I just don't think Doyle has it in his heart to play for us,there's obviously still more to the situation than is on the surface...

Strikes me that we renegotiate with Swindon. They pay 100% of his salary from 1st January 2020 or we recall Doyle.

If they agree (and it will give Doyle a message that they love him) then the money it frees up can be used to recruit another striker.

If Swindon offer him an 18/30month Contract in January then the odds are he will sign for them permanently and it then frees up wages (again it will give Doyle a message that they love him).

    Simple really!

Or Bradford apologise for completely failing to acknowledge his ability and bring him back alongside Vaughan and watch him score 15 in 20 matched while we clinch the league title.

except they have already stated they can not afford his wages, so we basically end up with an annoyed Doyle back with us as the message we will have sent him is we don’t want him at all but we can not move him on.

No matter which point we accept ......... Yours or @Bigrod@Bigrod - It highlights that future transfer dealings must be conducted more realistically, to better serve the interests of all parties.

the loan did serve the best interests off all parties when it was signed. We saved some cash for use elsewhere, they got a new striker on the cheap and he got game time that he wasn’t going to get at VP.

not sure whose interests weren’t bettered by the deal?

One of the reasons for sending a player out on loan is to see what he can do in a different environment. Another is to give him playing time. It’s not all about saving money. He’s gone out, exceeded our expectations and is bang on form. It does not require further thought: bring him back. I

As per your earlier post, Storck. City didn't want him, and too expensive to ship out on a full deal. :)
Perhaps City too should look at things 'on the cheap', with a view to improving a contract, once it's seen as good value ? ;)

    Absobloodylutely

I don’t give 2 fury shxts whether they can afford to pay all his wages or not, I’m 100% sure they would find the money from somewhere

    leave him there for me.

Agreed, if Swindon don't meet our demands in January we recall him. Can you imagine their fans uproar if they didn't keep him.

    Agree

The uproar down there would be surpassed by the uproar here if he’s recalled and fails again.

We move on for me, I’m happyish with what I’ve seen so far this year, the less reminders from last year the better

If Swindon pay all his reported 5k a week wages then it’s a risk I’m happy to take
given our results and league position so far

I also expect Donaldson to return quicker than what we were initially told , it’s only a toe ffs

The downside would be - City fans would also be in uproar if Bowyer took him back, and reverted to type by playing Doyle as a lone striker........... AGAIN.
I can see some Poker faces, this coming January ....... From all sides. Clubs, fans and player.

Edit: Whatever is to happen, let's hope it does, early doors. WE don't want or need a Doyle saga to dominate any transfer dealings over the whole window !!

I actually think their fans would understand as their manager has made it crystal clear that they can not afford him on his full wages. Any uproar would be aimed at City
