Height of pathetic is people asking for life bans for kids going to celebrate with the players. Fair enough swinging at a steward is bang out of order. But seriously.... life bans.

I’m not sure people are saying life bans just for someone running on the pitch, well if they are that’s extreme unless they’re repeating offenders. But for going for a steward then yes I would, in fact the person will be lucky if the police aren’t contacted.

I don’t even think people give a rats about some kids running on the pitch for a bit of attention, what is most likely pissing people off(me anyway) is it’s against footballing laws and as a result will probably result in fines that the club can ill afford.

Fans can’t be moaning about a lack of funding in the first team then be accepting of actions that will hinder the funding it’s just bonkers logic.

So yeah if they keep doing it and don’t learn and the club keeps getting punished and losing money, then I don’t see how thinking life bans is pathetic at all. Bearing in mind it’s already happened more than once this season and it’s only early into the season.

Agree with @WilsdenBantam@WilsdenBantam here. Lifetime bans would be totally over the top, for a first time incident.

I understand the club has offered ‘face to face’ meetings, in my view if there is sincere and genuine acceptance that pitch incursion was wrong, then a formal warning could suffice.

A second offence lead to the ban for a season (or 12 months).

Repeat offenders could perhaps end up with bans which were over three or more seasons, with a further meeting offered, to clarify if they now accept that they cannot behave in such a manner, before a fresh ST being purchased, or general entrance to the stadium.

I believe that people can change, mature and become reasonable in their behaviour.

So a balanced and proportionate response would seem to be reasonable.

@wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler can you confirm if the club has issued bans to any fans in the last 3 years. No details required just confirmation

Yes, life bans for a first offence would be over the top. Very few here are suggesting that. One year is more like it. But anyone caught setting off pyrotechnics should get at least a three year ban and then a life ban for repeat offenders.

For all pyrotechnics disturb me, that is not the true issue (for me). The fact rules are are so often pushed (breached), and beyond, is however. Bravado is one thing, but repeated offences can not, and should not be tolerated.
What rules in a civilised society ... Those who accept common sense, or those who 'take what they want' ?

Just wondering if my very PC friend "Offcomedon" (weird user name) in his Tim ed supporting city from the 60's never once went on the pitch after we got promotion or last minute goal celebration in a cup match.

It's called passion, in the last few years everyone is going out of there way to create problems which aren't really there. Fing mad

I can honestly say that I have never gone on the pitch, to what could be termed as ‘showing off’ my passion. I am still a ‘passionate’ fan, but someone who doesn’t need to behave in an immature and irresponsible manner.

Whether you like it or not, the rules of the FA E20, clearly state pitch incursions are against the laws of the sport. For the avoidance of doubt, FA Rule E20(a) states that Each Affiliated Association, Competition and Club shall be responsible for ensuring:
    (b) that no spectators or unauthorised persons are permitted to encroach onto the pitch area, save for reasons of crowd safety, or to throw missiles, bottles or other potentially harmful or dangerous objects at or on to the pitch’.

You may wish to remind yourself that other clubs who have played us have been fined considerable sums! http://www.thefa.com/-/media/files/pdf/the-fa-2015-16/fa-v-reading-regulatory-commission-final-decision-reasons.ashx?la=en

If you don’t like it then you have a few options:
    • Join a Supporters group and lobby for a change in the law.
    • If no Supporters group meets your requirements form one yourself!
    • Stop going to football as clearly you no longer like football in its current guise.
    • Reflect on the situation and accept that it is the law.
Whinging is going to achieve zilch and could be seen as rather petty! As they say ‘put up or shut up!!

It's two years since David left VP. Given some of the incidents we've all seen at VP, (not just the most recent one) when you have been involved with fighting our corner in the football authorities' investigations, has there been no further action taken against the offenders?

And whilst we are at it, you also said the video footage etc from the Carlisle game was being reviewed on Monday. Has any further action been taken against those who were involved in that particular incident?

The name is Offcomedun, not Offcomedon. It's properly spelled Offcomed'un but I thought the apostrophe would be irritating for others to use so I left it out.
It's old Yorkshire slang for someone who isn't a local - ie Off Comed One, or one who comes from somewhere else. I'm surprised you've never heard of it.
The name reflects the fact that I was born and brought up in Essex and came to Bradford in 1980, when I was 24, to go to university.
So I wasn't around these parts to celebrate City promotions or cup victories in the 60s and 70s.
I was a bit young to be running on the pitch in the 60s, and the adults who took me to games would have stopped me doing so anyway.
From 1974 (aged 18) to 1980 I went to nearly all of West Ham's home games and a fair few away games, including European trips to The Hague and to the Heysal Stadium for the 1976 European Cup Winners Cup final.
At Upton Park I often stood at the front of the old Chicken Run stand and could easily have jumped onto the pitch from there but, like all those around me, I never did. There were many great victories to celebrate but I never felt the need to run on the pitch to do so. There was plenty of passion in evidence at the bear pit that was Upton Park. However, I don't recall pitch invasions being much of a thing at Upton Park in the 70s, but I could be wrong. @Interested Bystander@Interested Bystander might remember better than me.

You know those really sad signs that desperately dull conformist people put up to convince themselves that they are really such wild and wacky party animals - 'You don't have to be mad to work here, but it helps'. Well grown men reminiscing about running onto pitches when they were teenagers are the football equivalent.

I think the issue comes about when the 'passion' boils over and someone smacks a steward for trying to stop them going on the pitch. That happened on Sat.

I get running on the pitch if you win the league or promotion on the last day of the season but twice this season already is pretty moronic.

I'm on the beach in Cyprus, Dennis but as I said in an earlier post I have made my views known to JR and Paula Watson as I did last season. Suggest you ask Paula direct as I've had no feedback this week, not to say no action taken though. Try paulawatson@bradfordcityfc.co.uk

Agreed. I don't have a problem with it if you've just clinched promotion or won a cup but otherwise it's completely unnecessary.

Not sure why you needed to reply to the clown, but in the 60 years I've been going, I can only remember a league cup game against our friends from Bermondsey when both sets of "fans" got onto the pitch, and the last game at The Boleyn against Man U, when AFTER the final whistle some got on the pitch (the rest were dismantling signs, seats etc).
Remember the concrete walls? easy enough to jump over though no one did.

Sadly your last sentence just about sums up the strength of your position. When you try to ‘belittle’ someone to try and gain the upper hand. Rather than having a go at those who comply with the FA and Bradford City rules/laws, do something about it constructively, write to the FA and Bradford City and tell them you fundamentally disagree. Try and change the rules/laws.
