Yep, looks like he's made a reasonable start. It'll be interesting to see how he progresses and if he can nail down that first team shirt on a regular basis. It definitely helps that Sheff Utd play two up front though.

Sure. Just as I never heard any City fan say he was 'great' for us, nor did I hear any confidently predict he would make a PL striker.
But his youth record marked him out as a bit special, as did comments from senior City players who really rated him as a goalscorer. I think discerning City fans could see that he had something. None of us knew how far he might go but plenty were clear that he was an obviously good player pitched into the physicality of L1 far too soon.

No one said he was a great player, people are just saying it was far too early to class him as underperforming or a failure. Or at least the ones with at least half a brain are.

    OK northern

So just for clarity, are you saying someone who has a different opinion than you only has half a brain? Or am I misunderstanding your comments?

Im suggesting that you calling a young first year pro "shite" after just a handful of games in a struggling side would suggest it wasn't the brightest comment.

The fact he's now a multi millionaire after a huge move to the Premier League only adds to the ridiculousness of your comment and should, if anything, teach you the lesson of patience.

The only thing he lacked in his time with us was physicality, he couldn't show much of his ability because he hadn't filled out enough to not get bullied off the ball all the time. If he'd have stayed with us it'd have destroyed him.

Ridiculousness? Hindsight is a wonderful thing Northern, not many of our fans could possibly have predicted the McBurnie outcome. As I have already alluded to, the Swansea setup made him, without that he would've stayed lower league. I'm not for one minute saying i'm not happy for the lad, he's done awesome

Calling him "shite" after such limited gametime and considering his age and the team's issue's at the time is ridiculous. It's nothing to do with hindsight.

Scored twice today. Seems our inept managers just didn’t know how to play him

He scored twice and didn't win.

No surprise, whenever a team 'plays his strengths' they do badly.

    Swindon will be no different.

Oldham, Chesterfield, all crap despite him scoring.

What was our excuse then as we didn't play to the lads strengths and we were really shite?

Totally agree. Swindon won their first 2, Doyle comes in they haven’t won since. Top scorer here and at Oldham, but offers little except the odd tap in and penalty. You need footballers at professional level to be able to actually do the basics such as link up play. If we’d won today he wouldn’t have got a mention, surprise surprise.

How the feck can you blame a teams losses on a striker that scores for them? Utterly baffling and defies logic.

Doyle is a striker who scores goals when played in the correct position. I'd have taken Doyle off the bench today after 65 mins to partner Vaughan up top.

I'd have just partnered Donaldson upfront with Vaughan instead of asking the 36 yo to play wide and track back

Yes but if you need a goal then there isn't much better in the league as a 3rd choice than Doyle

(We will need another striker though cos' Vaughan will get at least two suspenions during this season)

    Doyle plays, teams suffer.

This has never not been the case.

Sorry, it's just how it is.
