I know we could do with a ball winning midfielder but first thing has to be creative midfielders our bench hasn’t got a creative player on it

Will our positive start/position be the incentive for Rupp to release additional funds for a promotion push or will he look at it and think we can make do with what we have? I am concerned he’ll tighten the purse strings and expect GB to pull a rabbit out of his hat with existing resources.

After last night’s less than scintillating performance, does GB have Akpan in his thoughts for the season. Such a frustrating player! He has the tools to be the player we have the greatest need for but he’s just not at the races. Don’t know if it’s fitness or mindset. I’ve assumed GB was working to offload him to free up wages but maybe he thinks he can find a ball winner in there?

 

I never got that impression from Bowyer's comments. I thought he just confirmed that nothing happened in time to have another player available for last nights match?

 

I was thinking the same thing last night. He has the attributes, just doesn’t seem to click. He reacted after the game like a player who isn’t leaving, but not sure how much of that you can read into. He looks as though he needs to get fit, lighten the load a little and work on his reactions, as he was a yard off the pace for some of last night. A lot of that will come with game time though. I still maintain I would start him ahead of Devine.

One thing we lacked last night was movement on and off the ball. Stevenage knocked it around much better then we did and struggled to get any momentum or flow going. We have players to come back who will improve this, but a CM running the show in the middle will only be as effective as those around him.

 

All he said was it hadn’t happened in time for Tuesdays game
