Palmer Devine working much harder this half.

Im enjoying but we were poor first half.

O'Connor has been very solid so far. No need for him to go anywhere.
Akpan is more than good enough for league 2.
Devine is cheap and an ok squad player.

 

Devines been brilliant this half.

Donaldson starting to show his age. For 35 its unreal how many times hes beat the line and sprinted away. We need a good backup to him cause he cant keep working this hard every game.
Hes been sublime.

3-0 but incredible play from Donaldson. Knock and run around his man, cut back inside another and rolled it into Scannell, great control and finish.
Set up by a fierce slide tackle from Vaughan. But hes hurt himself.


Workrate from everyone second half has matched Vaughan and Donaldson and we have been dominant.

Sure we could have done this and that better but we won! For the first time in what feels like forever!!!

I think people need to stop letting last season cloud their judgment of performances this season. Our defence has looked solid so far this season and AOC and OD have been a big part of that, yet I’ve seen numerous call for them both to be shipped out because “they’re not good enough”. Same goes for Akpan, who has hardly featured so far this season. Give the guy a chance before writing him off.

Overall today we’ve looked good. When you play 442 you have to accept you won’t dominate possession, especially when coming up against a team with 5 in midfield today. However, it gives us much more attacking intent as shown by the 3 goals we scored. I thought the whole team played well today, the front 2 were great, the back 4 also very solid and I thought Devine did well adding some legs into midfield allowing Palmer a bit more opportunity to use his quality on the ball.

Scannell 6 - Fantastic goal but was obsessed with beating a man instead of crossing
Devine 8 - Second half excellent, never stopped.
Palmer 7 - Much improved second half, not showing his passing quality enough.
Wood 6 - Good crossing and solid game. We need better options on the wing.
Donaldon 12 - Best strikers performance ive seen in years, workrate, speed, stretched the defence, held it up. Everything. Quality finish and sublime assist.
Vaughan 9 - Not far behind Donaldson

That should put paid to 4-3-3. Enjoyable listen that, so vital we got the win today. Done in style too.

 

One goal concedes in 3 games in league now.

If you can defend you’ve always got a chance

 

Bowyer needed that win, represents a solid start now. It’s been said to death, but, if the midfield gets sorted we really should walk this league.

 

We didn’t even have to play that well. Balanced side, do the basics right etc.

Add a couple of midfielders of quality and we should be top 3

 

Second half was a lot better. Vaughan, Donaldson, Devine and BRE all impressive.

 

You don’t need to at this level. You just need the right amount of quality and be solid at the back.
