Eoin Doyle

To be fair we've watched a season of him and three games this season. He really isn't a loss, now need to use the salary space to bring players in.

 

Watch him inexplicably turn into a goal machine!

 

If he scores a few goals at Swindon so be it.

It never worked here and he wasn’t gonna get in ahead of Vaughan anyway.

Me and my nephew both said after cambridge game that GB must be using these games as a shop window. He knows the deadline is longer in L2 so played these players to give the scouts something to watch. Why would a prof manager play doyle over scannel? unless he intended on getting rid. Might be a shrewd decision who knows.

 

It doesnt mattet if he started the other games. McCartan is fit again and comes straight in.

 

I can't see Doyle's performances in the opening games encouraging Swindon to sign him. I'm pleased he's gone, it puts an end to Bowyer trying to shoehorn him into the team. I'm hopeful the money saved can be used to find a striking option with acceleration and pace - something different to Vaughan and Donaldson.

However, Like many on here, it's the midfield which causes me the most concern.

 

ideally it would have been done pre season, i wouldn't have had to watch him in the three games so far.

So what you're telling me is that everyone who started the previous 2 league games are now nailed on first teamers because Bowyer clearly rates and trusts them all, and therefore, any incoming players in the eyes of the manager will make us weaker by default? Very poor logic. The Cambridge and Grimsby would have revealed a lot, including the players who aren't good enough and possible alternatives on the bench who in hindsight would have been better options to start with.

Doyle got into the team because the first couple of games were partly experimental and our first choice number 10 was injured. It doesn't mean that he was part of Bowyer's long term plan.

Given that he's no longer here, he clearly wasn't.

 

Strangely i feel more confident for tomorrow now even though we are a man down squad wise.

Not going to happen but even if it did, it wouldn't be any worse than Doyle alongside them.

 

I see what @SimonW is saying, technically our top scorer, getting picked, etc, and the timing isn't perfect (would have preferred he hadn't gone to a 'rival'), but his wage was worth shifting more than some of the cheaper, younger lads, so it is what it is.

We definitely need a replacement, and hopefully it's someone who adds something different to D and V.

Don't mind who takes his place tomorrow, frankly, as Doyle was doing nothing anyway.

I assume he will not be allowed to play against us.

Glad Doyle has gone,he has scored penalties but shown little else.

Can't afford any more freeloaders so we need to finish the clear
out and move on.Hope we're not paying too much of Doyle's wage
as I doubt Swindon can afford £5k a week!
