No it isn't, there was a statistic that came out around Christmas and he had the 4th best shot to save ratio in the division.

 

He proved that for some of the games he was a L1 quality keeper and in other games, he’d be lucky to get a game in L2. Your point is?

I ask again (for the avoidance of any doubt), name me a keeper you have seen play as many minutes as O’Donnell, that is guaranteed to do better in L2....!

 

So on that bases there was at least 3 keepers better than him up to Christmas. Where did he end up at the season end?

 

I haven't seen Joe Hart play as many minutes as O'Donnell but I bet he'd be a better keeper.

The actual point is though, why does anyone have to be a professional scout these days just to offer an opinion?

Riccs opinion is that we can do better, yours isn't. Neither opinion is wrong it's just the particular viewpoint you are both holding.

Totally irrelevant he had little competition and you only had to watch him to see he was struggling. By what I have read about Hornby he has much better competition this time so we will see what happens.

 

Depends on what you refer to as “the league”. I keep asking the same question, but name me a keeper you have see for as many games/minutes as O’Donnell, that will prove he’s below average for L1, let alone L2...!

 

Missed the point entirely, but not unexpected. We are taking about players that are prepared to play L2 football, otherwise, we can all name players better than O’Donnell or anyone else at L1 or L2 level...!

Can you name a keeper that is prepared to play for a L2 side that is guaranteed to be better than O’Donnell and you have seen him play as many minutes as you have seen O’Donnell play to be able to compare?

Its alright having that opinion but you have to back it up with something. I said to Ricc to show name me a better keeper, his problem would showing me how he came to that choice. All he can go is the season that O'Donnell had last time out. That can balanced be saying there isn't a keeper out there who would have stood a chance last season in front of that lot. Remember when we had Ben Williams in net behind the back four that had done us so well, i'm sure he ended up with a large number of clean sheets. But he wasn't a better keeper than O'Donnell, infact most didn't really rate him, he left to go to Bury and struggled to get a game there. Apart from Pickford, you could have stuck any keeper from the past decade there, they'd have looked poor as well.

I agree that O'Donnell will be good enough, that's why I liked the comments. I don't agree with your view that we somehow have to be a professional scout to offer a different viewpoint though.

 

If I could I'd imagine I'd be earning millions from football clubs up and down Britain.

You've missed my point completely. I'm not suggesting we need to replace O'Donnell, I'm suggesting that just because we haven't seen one play for a full 46 game season or we can't pull names from the top of our heads it doesn't mean they aren't out there.

For what it's worth, I'm happy keeping ROD but I can also accept the other viewpoint that he's been as poor as the rest for the second half of the season and if he's replaced then so be it..

 

You suggested we had to watch a player as much as we've seen ROD to offer a view on said player.

Most on here have never heard of him, let alone seen him play, but have already made an opinion he’s better than O’Donnell.

Personally I think Matt Gilks is better that ROD, on trial at Fleetwood and won't sign a new contract at lincoln, only conceded 6 goals in the second half of the season
