Go on, I'll take the bait, who was these "some" who thought Ismail could be the first 100m player?

 

I can understand how this could be seen as a poor signing based on reviews from fans of other clubs however I think he is here purely as a back up. He is capable of playing both full back positions so saves us having to bring in two back ups. Bowyer knows him well and Henley needs to prove he can perform in the Football League again.

I am liking the way the defence is shaping up. I do think we need another centre back as I can’t see up relying on French but from the reviews we have a good left back in Longridge, we know that Mellor can perform in League 2 from his Blackpool days, we will have to wait and see about Richards-Everton and now we have a back up for both full back positions. If Bowyer can go and get us a solid centre back to partner Richards-Everton then I think we can all be happy with that.

What I (personally) like about our recruitment, thus far - Is the fact they all have time to 'hit their peak' - Here's hoping that this comes in their stay at BCAFC. Most have lot's of game time - so not novices ......... But perhaps a few skeletons in the wardrobe, they want and need to shed.
More importantly ........ Will the 'blend' of our squad be right ? We'll know by August, I'm sure !

Because as long as the criticisms aren't about unprofessionalism, the standard could be deemed lower in League Two.

 

If the only information I can get hold of him is from his time in the Championship then that's what I'll use. It's not supposed to represent 100% accuracy, hence why i said "there's a chance league 2 is more his level".

What I can confidently draw from the reviews is that he's 25, has achieved nothing in his career and as a result has probably come as an understudy to Mellor as opposed to a replacement. This is clearly stated in the op.

Achieved nothing in his career does not appear to tally with the level of achievement we require.

Being a squad player at Championship level offered multiple new contracts is not below the minimum for a League Two club.

To suggest it is is absurd.

my point is that he's not achieved anything in his career to date and has probably come in as a benchwarmer. It remains to be seen whether he will start games and make an impression.
