Mcburnie looks likely to be sold with Swansea trying to cover a shortfall. Hopefully he follows Potter to Brighton for a decent fee

    No chance in league 2.

If we'd have stayed up it might have been worth an enquiry but I can't see him dropping a level after the season he's just had.

    Stefans sales pitch ...........

    "Thankyou for coming, Gentlemen.
I am selling City because we scrapped the only pot we had to piss in, and have since been relegated.

"The reasons BCAFC were relegated are because firstly, I allowed a Charleton to bluff his way into football. He then used my wealth to spunk £millions down the schitt pots, whilst stripping the Club of all expert personnel.

"But all is not lost, my friends ....... We still have a Club, of sorts - FFS !
We also have a local group of Fans, who are to change a few light bulbs, place some much needed buckets in the lavatory cubicles ....... OH! And a few pots of B&Q paint to improve one of the many Bar areas.

"So you see - Although now League 2, there is so much potential here, with over 13k Supporters.
Shall we start any bidding at £10m ..............
Errrrrrr, Gentlemen, the meeting is not over .......... Where are you all going ? .....The Pizzas will be here soon ........"

I am not (yet) against Rupp. I don't think he'll let us go into admin or anything, and I don't think he'll get involved with the day to day running of the club. he's alright by me if he lets Rhodes and whoever get on with the job.
give him a competitive budget and let him get on with it. and I'm hopeful this will be the case.

he isn't gonna give us as much money as we'd like him to but that was never gonna happen anyway. aslong as we aren't scrambling round with a Newport size budget trying to sign Hartlepool's cast offs.

What about Nialle Rodney who ended up at Colchester? 32 professional appearances 0 goals. Now at FC United, miserable times they were.

More likely to go for Mikael Mandron who's just been released by Colchester. Strange situation there regarding him if you read their local paper comments, was banging them in for fun pre season then got dropped for the first game of the season and it affected him.

I don’t get the obsession with Colin Doyle. He was distinctly average and was fortunate to have a decent back four in front of him.

I don't know if there's an 'obsession' with him, it's just that in League Two there are few better options than an Ireland international keeper, his family live on the door step and he'd likely be delighted to return.

and he's much better than OD.

Would be quite funny if it wasnt a summary of the present state of affairs
I can only draw 2 conclusions from that either
He has another interested party willing to pay more
    or
He has developed a genuine interest for the club and is prepared to take a massive risk and invest huge amounts
If Mr Rupp thinks he can invest the bare minimum and get us promoted i fear he will be sadly mistaken and will be throwing good money after bad
An established L2 club is worth nowhere near what he will have invested at the end of the season either a Brave Man or there is more to it than meets the eye
Not investing properly in the squad in January was both our and Mr Rupps downfall (along with Mr Rahic )

Sometimes dropping down a division can be beneficial to a player but it's not a set rule that can be applied to every footballer out there, and I would put Doyle in this category. As a goalkeeper, dropping down to league 2 would not improve his distribution, shot stopping, catching ability or any attributes in general he may be lacking in. It's the same with Scannel. Sure he'll run past defenders at will, but his main problem is a lack of end product and playing in league 2 will not suddenly give him the ability to cross a football.

I'm contrast, Eoin Doyle might benefit as defenders won't mark him as effectively and Akpan, who often takes an age to make a decision would be better suited to league 2 as the game is generally played at a slower pace.

it depends on the type of player and i wouldn't take it for granted that an average league 1 goalkeeper would suddenly flourish in league 2.

Bantams Steve I think even before that mate. Not investing after the play off final defeat done us too.....

    I don’t think he’s a better keeping than OD!

He’s contracted for another year up in Scotland and we have a capable keeper in OD at this level.

If you think there isn’t an obsession, you ought to check his missus twitter page when she posts a pic of Colin in a City kit - it’s cringeworthy.

I don't think we can count twitter mutants as a good cross section of our support. social media is usually home to some right whoppers.

I count myself in that, but still.

That's an obsession from his wife, not really City fans being obsessed is it? Would you be proud of a family member and post pictures of them at a time of your life you were fond of? Yes you would. They are footballers and their families, they are normal people.

I don't think there'll be a huge difference either way. If you thought he was good last time then chances are that he'll continue to be the same good quality goalkeeper he was a year ago. With keepers, I don't think that the impact of dropping down from league 1 to league 2 is as profound as it is with certain outfield players.

I’d be happy enough with Doyle and O’Donnell both pretty average but that’s what you get with keepers in the lower leagues. Put O’Donnell in the 16/17 team the goals conceded wouldn’t really change, same if you put Doyle in this years. It’s very rare keepers at this level save you points like the top ones do, having seen them both for a year plus, there’s nothing between them or most other keepers at this and league 1 level. If we can only afford one go with the cheapest, there’s other areas we need to improve more.

Lincoln showing interest in Mandron apparently, he’s very similar to Akinde but not as lethal in front of goal.
