Just for the avoidance of any doubt, and to keep others in the loop, this is on the back of your 2 posts. The first one simply said (in relation to Doyle), “he isn’t staying”. You then followed this up with, “Not sure about a clause. Don’t think we’ll get a fee, but I’m sure we’ll be happy to get his wages off the books. I pity the poor sap of an L1 club who take him on“.

Of course we’d be happy to get his wages off the books. But seen as there are allegedly 25% reduction clauses, I’m sure Bowyer will be looking to see if he can get a better finisher for the same amount. It’s obvious you don’t rate him, but less obvious that Bowyer doesn’t.

If you had any ‘evidence’ you’d have been happy to prove yourself instead of trying to ridicule...!

I have no desire to ‘prove myself’. If I inferred where I’d heard this, it’d be dismissed anyway. We’ve been here before - two years (or more) ago, a number of people started to reveal Rahic’s antics.....’where’s your proof’ cried the more obstinate bunch on here.

It’s an opinion forum, not a court of law. I’m not a huge Doyle fan. I think his wage could be put to better use, but in League 2, with the right partner and a couple of wingers who can cross the ball he could be an asset. So I’m not fussed either way. But I’ve been told by someone I know and trust, who’s in a position to know and who’s been reliable in the past, that he has an offer on the table from a league 1 club and intends to take it. Time will tell.

 

As far as Caddis is concerned it doesn’t take much working out Mellor is nailed on for right back next season he played for Bowyer before and fits the profile wants in his players. They won’t pay the sort of money Caddis wants for a back up

Incidentally, he's got one of two choices and it's not even down to him and either are a 'win' for us

1. We sell him to Lincoln. And if anyone has any sense they'll demand what we paid for him at least
2. He stays with us and that's great because he's now played a major part in a successful promotion at two different L2 clubs in his last two L2 seasons

 

Why would anyone in their right mind pay 250k for McCartan? Just because we got robbed blind doesn't mean that's what he's worth.

And has he played a major part? I'd argue 10 goal contributions and only starting half of the league games is an average part. And this is his only promotion from league 2. When at Accrington they finished 13th.

 

I keep saying it, but I don't know why you want to get rid of all the players. It simply hasn't work for a 'bounce back' at any other club

A classic example is Coppinger at Doncaster, part of the failure that was Rovers three seasons ago

Interestingly with MK Dons, Tisdale tried off loading virtually everyone and then ironically was grateful to the ones who didn't go as they covered very well, for a crippling injury crisis they had. Which shows, as some of us keep saying that you cannot assume that a player is going to be rubbish forever.

Remember Mason Bennett? He's played a vital role, admittedly mainly as a sub, in revitalising Derby's successfully attempt to get in the play-offs

He was terrible for us and now is of Championship quality, i.e. form is temporary

Anyway, I've highlighted in claret (what other colour could I use ) the ones I'd keep as they are who I believe will be an asset in L2, under this manager. Remember, I'm not saying that these are all starters but the base of a squad, i.e. I'd expect some physical character signings etc

Mellor and woods as two full backs would be good for league two.

That’s the problem. The only half decent squad members are always injured. We can’t afford to rely upon these two and have a couple of youth understudies behind them.

I would be tempted to forget about Woods, his record says he won’t play a third of the games, so better to look for someone who we can base in a regular back four. Better to build a consistent unit than chopping and changing like we did all season.

 

Agreed, Woods is a concern with his record. I'd let him go and look for a more physical left back.

I'd keep Mellor though, and the chances are Caddis is going - if only because we still have Mellor and Riley contracted, and probably on good money.

 

So, instead of saying all this, you skirt around and provide your own view on him. I don’t need the evidence of who told you etc. But the fact you were told by someone is more than you saying “he’s gone”..... “I don’t rate him”.
