The coaches and set up are all in place. There will be many of the youngsters who fail who will be replaced just like Sydney bantams told us yesterday Hanson has been replaced by the lad from Sheffield this won’t cost a lot. Although I agree I think the whole set up should be funded as an extra by the owners

Park, there isn’t many who disagree with having a development squad, to use as and when required for the 1st team, and to sell them for a profit. My only bone of contention is not only do I want that to come from separate investment, which might have happened if we hadn’t somehow lost an investor, and furthermore, it cannot possibly be used as part of the first team squad. Some of our players in the development squad have had to play in some very difficult situations. That is not the way to develop young players, you put them in when the garden is rosy to build confidence. Yes some of them have survived Robinson, Patrick to some extent, not seen enough of Gibson.

 

Perhaps, Ricky ......... BUT, in the meantime - City gain any benefit whilst they're on our books, playing 1st eleven football. By keeping them a couple of years longer could aid any success, and generate a higher fee paid ?

 

An excellent post @Onside - your vision surpasses so many on here. Any initiative is good in any business - but the results of those depend so much on how such initiatives are implemented. Just as many will bring success, equally, others will fail.

 

For me i would now see where the ones we have take us if we sell one for over the £300k outlay it's worth while but would put efforts into the 1st team next year buts thats' just my opinion

I agree. As @Onside posted .......... Put too much pressure on, too early and the kids can fail. I think Patrick is a good example of that. Robinson and Gibson are being better Managed, IMO. OH ! Great to see Hawkes make a debut at Scunny ....... A dead rubber, with no pressure on the lad. All we need now is to see Sykes Kenworthy showcase his skills, in pre-season, and if Webb Foster has recovered and can step up ?

 

If its a long term project and it does not produce anyone we can sell on for big money (as that's my understanding of why its been introduced) then it will have been a very expensive project that's for sure.

I suggested around January that I would not object to seeing Robinson played along side Wyke. The kid has pace, spots a loose ball, and can shoot. Remind you of anyone ?

Julian obviously didnt thnk so, and I'd suggest as he had the most to lose he was more than happy with the % rate, do you think we could have got better terms if any of the financial instiutions had loaned the club £1m, which I doubt very much with our history ?.

I said similar at the time, but my thought were more that Charlie's other partners were hardly prolific so we had little to lose by playing Tyrell along side Charlie.
I don't believe if we had a full squad Tyrell would be more than a bench player IMO it's only that we had so many injuries Tyrell got so many starts.
