I don't see what all the fuss is about in all honesty. I'm sure most on here would do more than 'act like a petulant child' should our employer not pay us what are owed not once but twice.

 

22 goals and assists, which is the third best in the League - putting him level with Grigg in a team that's done nowt creatively since the end of December.

I agree with you that he hasn’t behaved like a petulant child. His form died just as it did for the majority, but effort was still there. Even when he had his dip in form, he still contributed, albeit nothing in front of goal.

However, where I disagree is that he hasn’t had service. If you look at the stats, I bet the number of crosses into the box are well into double figures per game. Some from free-kicks, others from corners or simply the occasional cross from our wide players. Admittedly a decent percentage of those crosses aren’t good enough, but Wyke still had chances.

Put another way, the likes of NKP, Killa, Vincelot and Dieng have all managed to get on the end of those crosses throughout the season, yet our centre forward is often nowhere to be seen.

Tuesday night is another example. A great cross from Warnock and it was a midfielder on the end of it. Then, in the 2nd half, when Wyke finally won a header, it was straight at the keeper.

For a player with ambitions of Championship football, he has a lot to improve on first.

Wyke has one year left on his deal and it looks like he won't be signing an extension so I would suggest we flog him.

Talk of £5m in the winter was ludicrous. If we can get £1m for him this summer I would snap their hands off.

I love how when stone cold sober Wyke has gone round a POTY awards do telling everyone he's disgruntelled at the club..

 

His celebration after scoring against Rochdale, was indeed like a child. But like a child who's just recieved the birthday gift of their dreams. He certainly looked interested in this club

But it doesn’t make sense. If Wyke has the clause in his contract, why wouldn’t the club pay him? His agent AND PFA rep would have been all over this in a flash. For it to be claimed it has happened twice is unbelievable.

I believe he car shares with McMahon (and possibly Gilly too), so I’d suggest that is more of a reason for him wanting out. I’m not saying it isn’t true, more that it’s hard to believe and I don’t believe every rumour I hear

Let's accept he was unhappy during January / February. Thank god he's clearly bothered enough to feel like that - because he rightly should have felt this way. Probably his stupid sending off, then led to him looking for excuses as to why he'd done this and if there was a bonus dispute - there's his excuse. Nonsense of course, but we'd all try and blame something else if we could

None of it reflects on what will happen in the future. He's not going to sign an improved deal? OK then put a £5m tag on him.

One of the good things about the new regime is that we are no longer a "we'll take any offer, especially if it's crap" club

 

I think getting £1m for him is optimistic, hope I'm wrong mind.

This impatience with Wyke is embarrasing.

He's the fifth top scorer in the division, and like you say, has 7 assists to add to his 15 goals.

We've only scored 56! That means he was directly involved in 40 % of our total goals.

But don't worry, just sell him, after all, we're tripping over strikers that score and make 22 goals a season, aren't we?

I didn't speak to Charlie last night but he was sat at an adjacent table. He didn't look as if he was unhappy at all. If he is, he was putting on a good show of enjoying the evening and talking to fans quite happily. I suppose it is what players have to do at a POTY bash, but he was more cheerful than some.

Some would have you believe that if a striker doesn't nutmeg 5 players then smash one in top bins from 30 yards, they're shite.
