He applauds EVERY SINGLE instance of good play. Every bit of effort. Without fail, always. He guides the younger players, tells them when they should take their time, he understands the game inside out, and I'd like to see him as a manager in the future.

If Hoppy can sign Ball in the transfer window, it would free up another loan signing?

 

Wouldn't be suprised to see Ball sign this January. He can only play for us & Rotherham now this season. I could see Rotherham coming to an agreement to pay him off part/most of his 6 months left and then we sign him on an 18 month contract.
This would also free up a loan

 

On top of all this well deserved praise we are pouring on our players after this last month it's as clear as anything that these lads are enjoying their Saturday afternoons as much as the fans......

 

Listening to Jason Thornton on the way home and he was saying Stefan was very jovial shaking hands with everyone involved at the club, and said Stefan would be staying over this week to sort a few problems out, but Jason said Stefan would back Hopkin in this January's transfer market, as someone else has suggested maybe approach Rotherham with an offer to take David Balls contract over, and maybe ask Town if we can have first dibs on Payne if we can agree a fee, never ask you never know.

 

Glad we have O'Donnell, best keeper in this division for me.

 

Eh mate what was you saying about our friend Carl Boyeson , thought he had a steady game today my only grouse would be maybe Alnwick should have seen red instead of his yellow, but overall no complaints, that two weeks on the trot we've had referees who have let the game flow,

 

Fitness and some 'direction' help, too.

 

Without doubt he could not perform like that week in week out and still be in league one, but that was the difference today keeping it to 2-0 rather than 5/6/7 great goalkeeping performance, but yes O'Donnell fine until we get better .

 

Ha ha, yes I'm afraid that I've had a downer on Boyeson for years, along with his mate Drysdale. Neither seem to do us many favours and I honestly expected the worst today. Not with the result but playing twelve men! All's well that ends well, eh?

 

With regards fellow posters comments about how the entry of the"Legend" would go I personally thought everything about today showed class from us fans.
Dave Hopkin IMO came out that few minutes early to allow Stuart to take the accolades he deserved, we saluted him and then got behind Dave Hopkin's side 100% and gave them the vocal support they deserved.

 

McArdle was gash today.

 

Lewis O'Brien absolutely phenomenal once again.
When he was cynically taken out and lay in a heep I feared the worst but this lad is a tough cookie and a joy to watch.
What an amazing young talent.

Not sure about 'let the game flow' Bronco, I thought he was the opposite, and extremely whistle-happy.

 

First half, Scunny we’re even worse at the back than we’ve been this season.

I thought (from upper kop to the right of the goal) that the defender handled the ball but the ref would never have seen it.

 

What a difference in 6 weeks. I don’t want to get carried away with myself but the whole vibe around the club is brilliant at the minute, especially on the pitch.

I don’t know how much of McElhone’s influence it is but we looks so much more organised and fitter since he came in.

LOB MOM for me. He was class today. We really need to try to keep Payne, and I hope Stefan puts his money where his mouth is to make him a permanent signing. He’s the type of player we can build a team around.

Defence looked much better today too, even if there were a few moments where I thought if it was a better team we would have been punished. I didn’t think this defence was capable of one clean sheet this season, let alone 2 in a row.

No reason to fear Sunderland now. They need the result after losing today though and I hope having the larger crowds at VP has the given the squad a bit of experience so they don’t get stage fright.

Feeling strangely optimistic after the past 11 months of gloom.
