When things are crap at work you need staff who see through this and look to galvanise the team, mcarten is just another weak minded player we have recruited

To say we apparently look for the right character in players we did a shit job I've seen more enthusiastic people doing community service

Unfortunately when Phil Parkinson walked out the manager who brought players in because of their character was first out of the door, luckily Stuart had been left some of those said players Darby, McMahon, Meredith, McArdle, Clarke, Morias, Hanson.
He then added his own tried and tested Law, Doyle, Vincelot, Dieng, Gilliead, brought Cullen back, convinced Marshall he was wanted at Valley Parade, but at the moment our recent recruitment is looking poor, even with our long injury list.

 

Of course Hopkin can recall McCarten but if he's not wanting to come back it will be under duress and any manager will say,if a player doesn't want to play for you,let him go.

We're better getting our money back if possible and reinvest in someone better.

 

Not sure if the budget was met but recruitment has been poor and below the standard needed to progress, that is the bottom line for us.

He must have been on the sauce last night. Half of his Tweets literally didn't make any sense.

Keep McCartan on loan anyway. He is not good enough for L1 and he is not better than Payne or Ball. Keep him in a Lincoln side doing well and the try sell him in January to recoup as much of that 200k as possible. Whoever thought he was worth 200k, on the back of a good second half of the season in L2, wants sacking too, btw.

 

Add it to the long list of Abbott successes......oh wait, there isn’t one.

Before the Edin apologists say "Wyke" it needs pointing out that even Stevie Wonder could have seen Wyke was a player worth looking at. He was banging in goals for fun for Carlisle and had a release clause for peanuts that meant you were getting a player at a half or third of his true value. Even then we played our hand badly and sold him on the cheap due to our form nosediving, him having a spell out of the side, not getting his move in January and then being flogged at a cut price as he entered the last year of his contract.

Didn't Abbott get sacked from Thackley? How was he let loose in charge of our recruitment? How can he have out-survived Stuart when he was one of the men supplying him with duds? Don't care whether he had a budget to work to or not, we should still be more competitive than we have been this year, with 10 points from 17 games or whatever the pathetic total is (daren't look).

May as well keep him for next seasons promotion push, seems to be a decent player for league 2.

 

First season the team was effectively already in place. the following pre-season was Abbott's and Rahic's chance to fully stamp their authority on the squad. They brought in Reeves, McCartan and Poleon and the season capitulated after Christmas.

 

They might be L2 mate, wouldn't want to play them at present

 

I rated McCarten, he looked an intelligent footballer to me, like a Billy Clarke and I thought all the unfit/fat bollox was just that. Some players take a while to settle into a new club......

I watched him today and he ran the show for Lincoln v Morecambe, the best player (by a mile) on the pitch. He linked everything up and the Morecambe defenders just couldn't control him. Lincoln (3-1) are certain to go up, they were really impressive and there was really positive vibe about the city and stadium which was 90% full. I very much doubt that he would want to come back to VP.

It was great to see Kevin Ellison again, how does he do it? He's 40 in 3 months yet was Morecambe's best player and the one who put in the most effort. I was willing him to score, and he did at the far post, surprise, surprise.........

That's handy. I very much doubt many of us would want him.

 

If he’s running the show for them then great, let’s try get him flogged in January and use the money to bolster our defence.
