With the expansion of conflict and military interventions on the Middle East, I'm wondering if we're actually already in it.

There is never peace in the world at any given moment it’s only called a world war as such when the west is directly affected. The biggest thing I fear is a civil war which I think we are accelerating towards.

 

Where in the UK ? there certainly could be civil unrest at what were seeing more and more.

 

Say what you like but without the backing of the U.S.A we'll be gone with the rest of the west, no one else could/would save us .....

Honestly, I wouldn't fancy our chances at all, as NATO. Because it it really goes south, the likes of Russia, China, North Korea and Iran would likely all jump in.

The US loves conflict, it's how their paymasters earned their billions. I mean, have you seen the amount of hardware they built just lying in fields? Tanks, planes, artillery, you name it. They own over half the world's aircraft carriers. Let's not kid ourselves that it's there for some super hero type world police force to do good for.the planet. They think they can walk over anyone, that ain't happening with Putin.

Jesus feckin’ wept. Putin may not be mad, but Trump certainly is. Heaven help us if he gets back in, as is looking increasingly likely with Biden’s recent falterings.

I think unless Trump gets banged up he can't fail to get back in and Biden can be applauded for that with his open orders policy, not even a country the size of the US can take the dregs from many countries not knowing their identity.........well there is and we live in it.

Nothing directly. But do we really want to go back to the Cold War days when most of Eastern Europe was under totalitarian domination from Russia? I certainly don’t and I’m bloody certain that the ex-USSR enslaved countries don’t want it either. Because Putin wouldn’t stop after conquering Ukraine.

 

Yes, I’m aware of that. But if he hadn’t illegally invaded and annexed Eastern Ukraine in 2014, it’s much less likely that the Eastern European countries would have been clamouring to join NATO and the EU. The US didn’t force its bases onto those countries, they were invited in. And the reason they were invited was because of fear of Putin’s territorial ambitions towards them, based on his warped view of Russian history.

That's pure conjecture on your part. He doesn't have the means to take the rest unless backed up by someone else, say China. He can't even make massive in roads into one of the poorest countries in Europe in the Ukraine. If by some way he does conquer Ukraine next stop would be the well equipped and armed Poland with what would be vastly depleted armies.
