On the offside with VAR it needs to be obvious and clear, Otherwise we should emulate the way cricket does it and if it is marginal go with the referees original call to make the decision

Rod Liddle in The Times suggested it should be used only for the one thing that really matters, did the ball cross the goal line or not? I agree with him, VAR is dehumanising the game, go further and why have a ref?

I've missed the context to this but I am surprised to see the term 'nig nog' being used. Whatever local usage the word has/had, it does also have a history of being a racially-charged derogatory term and so I can see why someone might be uncomfortable with it being used.

Without sounding sexist, no sorry, just cannot get into it. Tried watching England previously, but find it too slow, and has the atmosphere of a schools football match. Tried watching today's game between Germany and China, but gave up after 5 mins, not for me.

I will stick to the World Cup cricket this summer, far more entertaining

Think the naming of the teams is strange. Some are just called the country eg Germany, some are women eg Spain Women and some ladies eg Italy Ladies

I think the most obvious lack of quality in the women's game is the goalkeeping. I'm not sure why but they're nowhere near as agile as their Male counterparts, and when the goal is just as big it just looks wrong as they scramble around the goal line trying to stop a shot. There are no wonder saves either, just blocks and catches.

As I've said the problem is the dimensions of everything, you can get away in something like tennis being played on the same size court as its small enough that both the more physical mens game and the more tactical/technical women's game can work on it but with a football pitch the size pushes it way too much towards the physical side being a driving force of the enjoyment factor. If they made the pitches smaller, the goals smaller and maybe knocked 10 minutes off of a match it would push it more to the technical side of the game and allow the women's game to find its own place rather than being compared to the men's where its always going to feel inferior because as you say its just too slow to a point it seems more like one of those Legend matches full of overweight ex-footballers in their 50's

13-0 in a World Cup finals matcH?

    Embarrassing and abysmal standard

Someone's got out the wrong side of the bed !!!!
My point was that USA are a well organized side with skill attacking flair and a winning mentality they would be a match for most L2 sides and one in particular side that finished bottom of L1 last season
If that's an abysmal standard how would you describe our performances last season

Not all games are won with physicality watch the style of play it was quite refreshing after last seasons dross well organized and always looking for more goals I grant you the opposition were poor but the attitude shown put us to shame

To be fair, from what I read and hear from others who have watched so far, the attitude of the women is first class. I;ve seen some technically good goals on sports news highlights, but the defending and goalkeeping looks woeful

    Can't disagree with that
If you get the chance just watch the second half and tell me how happy you would be if we put in a comparable performance next season

    Not having that.

They were playing a team who were part time and made to look a lot better than they were. At best it’s conference north standard all around.

It’s ok though. It deserves to be on tv as it’s a World Cup but that doesn’t take away from the fact the standard is shocking.

And on another note I’d be checking with betting companies because that Thailand goalie last night? Part time and was diving past the ball as it went in for most of them.
