I thought they had robbed pensioners to pay them extortionate wages

    Do they?

What is the argument always used about other benefits? Maybe reduce spending elsewhere? Or is that not allowed to be used with pensioners

The pension is an entitlement not a benefit. Whilst with the good pension schemes these days many don’t need this. But there are millions of people who are just above the pension credit limit where winter payments allow them to keep the heat on in the winter. I can think of many areas where money could be saved without taking from vulnerable people

Aren’t the Labour (Robin Hood) Party supposed to take from the rich to give to the poor? Apparently the polar opposite of the Tories.
    How’s that going so far?

Why not drop Rachel Reeves a list of those areas where money could be sensibly saved? I'm sure she'll be eternally grateful for such a thougtful act.

    Well here’s 2 for starters.
Turn the boats back and close the migrant hotels.
Stop giving foreign aid. Charity begins at home.

So do the Train drivers need the pay rise?

The Labour Government have the wrong priorities on nearly everything so far.

So your argument is take money from someone else not you.
Many of us receive absolutely nothing from the state and are moving to an ever moving pension age. By the time I'm entitled to it, it will probably be 72+ go qualify.
The inlaws parent always joked about the heating allowance as a deposit for their holidays.

The fuel allowance is a benefit, tax credits are benefits

I found it funny how MPs are calling out the train drivers for a 60k salary with a 5% increase this year whilst they get a 90k salary with a 5.5% increase.

I must have missed MPs saying no don't give us an inflation busting payrise.

do the government employ the train drivers?

also. Maybe the percentage rises should be the same across all things from the government? So a fixed 5% say like the drivers have got? Or maybe the 6.7% that the pensions got?

Do the government employ the train drivers, well under future plans yes.

The decision of governments my friend will decide who they hit first in cuts and it was the vulnerable in our society.

    Starmer is a authoritarian liar.

Can the private sector be included in this 5% rise? Many businesses can barely afford to keep the lights on let alone give all their staff annual pay rises. Most private sector employees are not members of a union calling for strikes until they get what they want.

if there was enough support for a basic income then there would be a level for this sort of thing but it never seems to get much traction. Me and @Hoochy-Min@Hoochy-Min have been backing it for years on here but never seem to get much backing for it
