I'm not after an exact figure. If the club sold 15,143 season tickets but told us they'd sold just over 15k after the main deadline then that will do. How many did they sell inbetween their last update and the cheap ticket expiry date? A few hundred? A couple of thousand? You could probably work it out by looking at the match day figures and doing a bit of maths but you wouldn't have a clue if you went solely on what the club had told you. That consitutes as a lack of transparency.

On a slightly separate but related note, this might be of interest:

    https://mobile.twitter.com/KieranMaguire/status/1041254763873140736

It's information regarding debts of league 1 clubs and we were the only club in this division not to provide such infrimation. We failed to give information on something which every other league 1 club was willing to provide. It's not so much that I'm desperate to know our current financial status but it's very telling when you put it into context. It doesn't exactly help Rahic/Rupp when you consider they've talked about honestly and bette comunication with the fans.

I would see it as a window of opportunity to demonstrate unity, the club engaging with the supporters. This is a simple legitimate question. If the club can publish match ‘attendance’ figures (apparently 15,709 for the Charlton game) why not the. Number of Season Tickets sold?

I hope you will also enjoy.:thumbup:

i really feel for those that wake in a morning and their first thought is, “how can i dig out the club and the owners today?”

@Bigrod@Bigrod ; If you go on the bbc sport website and check our fixture against charlton, the figure reported is 15,709,

now i very much doubt charlton brought 700 fans so the approx figure should be over 15,000 but plenty of them are suffering buyers remorse(me me me) .

"how can i dig out the club and the owners today?"

Why, is the club buried under the smelly stuff?

If they are in a hole, they need to stop digging.

The last update I remember was around 14,000 which I believe was on Twitter.

Was the honest and better communication in the apology from last week?

I have in my career, seen so many people who have ‘apologised’, said ‘sorry’, but then gone onto behave in exactly the same manner as before.

This is just a little something, which the club could do. Why is it so difficult? Small steps to repair the relationship, need some tangible evidence to demonstrate that there is a constructive change occurring.

Didnt they get their data from company accounts and not direct requests from clubs? Still weird we havent produced full accounts.

I saw the original piece by Kieran Maguire and he is wrong.

The reason why the debt has not been disclosed in the 2016/17 accounts is twofold.

Firstly, the club only produces what are known as 'Abbreviated Accounts' and can do that because the club's size allows it. And in publishing Abbreviated Accounts, the club doesn't have to comment on the level of debt, the duration of the debt and who owns that debt. This isn't new. It has been the practice at our club since 2004 and the Rhodes' and ML&JR have all taken advantage of it during their ownership. Most other clubs in League 1 don't take advantage of this particular part of the Companies Act but City do. Personally, I don't like the practice and find it extremely annoying that our club does this and that a company with more than 15,000 paying customers doesn't provide better information about the financial well-being of the club. I had hoped that the EFL would at some point put a stop to the practice but as yet the EFL has done nothing. I had previously raised this as an issue on C&B but the general response from other posters was lukewarm if not 'meh'!

Secondly, even if they had produced full accounts rather than abbreviated accounts, there wouldn't have been any debt to disclose! And the abbreviated accounts do show that if Maguire had looked more carefully.

Maguire also said in his original article that the club hadn't disclosed any information on player purchases. That is equally untrue. In the Fixed Asset part of abbreviated accounts, a figure of £511k is shown as 'Investments' which despite its description is explained as being player purchases.

Why Maguire didn't get his facts correct is a little surprising but I am becoming very cynical about the plethora of negative reporting from journalists with little personal connection to our club. As you know, I am no fan of the Rahic approach and imo it is doomed to fail. But twisting the facts to meet somebody else's agenda does nobody any good.

the club haven’t dug this hole, you’ve just stuck your trowel in. i can’t be bothered to look but can you find the season ticket numbers out for 2003-04? or were the club ‘burying’ stuff then too?

what’s the obsession with knowing every detail of everything. we’ll be saying the club don’t document for us how many pies they sell next because, you know - they’re trying to cover something up.

Why would disclosing the season ticket number make any difference to building bridges with the fans? A constructive change wouldn't include telling fans that this season we have X amount of season ticket holders.

In itself it wouldn’t be a major deal, but the club needs to reconnect with a lot of fans. It needs to identify a number of both big and small ways of doing so. This is just one example. Engagement and making supporters feel part of the set up is the way forward. If you feel people are ‘open’ then you are more likely to trust them. Surely that is a good thing?

Perhaps it might be better when the owners aren't constantly giving people plenty of things to have a dig about then?

Totally get that Rod. Think the supporters club(s) need to get involved more to try seek out more communication which would help break down some barriers. I doubt Rahic knows about certain queries/issues supporters have, I don't see tickets being an issue at all but obviously to some it is. If this is pointed out then they can do something about.

True, but you can almost guarantee that if they released the official figure for season tickets then they would still get it in the neck about that figure.

One of the earlier interviews they gave to the press talked about clarity and good communication with the fans. Since then, Rahic has also mentioned it at the fans forum, the Bantamsbanter interview and I can't remember if it was mentioned in the apology. In short, PR has been an issue, Rahic clearly knows it's been an issue and despite some attempts to play it down I think we can all agree communication is something which needs to improve moving forward.
