Why are we so poor at home?

I attended a friends 21st party last week and of all things got chatting to a young chap who turned out to be an undertaker. He was the life and soul of the party and we gelled in our banter...The following morning he was queuing with his family as we left breakfast.As I said good morning to them he gave me a big hug and told me his dad had died last year and in meeting me he felt the need to show new respect as I was of the same older generation. It made my day for sure. So, Fordy, don't write us off and have a little more humility and respect.We were all young once you know.

 

Yes as I posted I was a little surprised to see very similar stats, second half Northampton had a one on one where Lewis made a good save, but apart from the fact that ours were on target I'm with you I cant remember their keeper making any sort of goal saving saves.

Lets hope the poor form ends soon as any improvement should secure at least a playoff spot. We’ve got to show more attacking intent when at home, give the opposition something to think about, not let them settle and be less predictable. Sides press us and we’ve no answer at all.

Mate was talking to one of ex players and going on about the attmosphere down at City .......... he said he’d been to games at Elland Rd and they get straight behind them if they concede a goal ......... he basically said if we concede then in a nutshell you don’t wanna be on the pitch due to the toxic attmosphere created now I ain’t blaming the fans but something is going wrong to be so poor at home year after year .........maybe the players are genuinely worried that one mistake will turn things toxic

 

Like it or not the fans have a part to play, your mate is correct. I remember Leeds v Bristol City 0-2 a few years ago the atmosphere was electric and 10 minutes later they had turned the game on its head. We do have a part to play as fellow posters have alluded to. The atmosphere for the Saudi Arabia game was fantastic, most certainly helped them out with it like a home game. VP has been sadly toxic for a number of years now, turning that around is part of the battle. But only part.

I agree with the poster who said how our fans turn on the team at home just adds to the poor performances. If they make a mistake, all they hear are groans. We should be accepting of mistakes as long as the players are trying!
