Yes, the only live game I saw McGowan play was at Charlton and he was genuinely immense. It's such a shame he hasn't shown anything like that since.

Wright is truly shocking and one of the least effective players I have seen and we've all seen plenty of shockers in a City shirt

Wright, truly a horrendous player. Total shiverer. How he was given the captaincy was beyond belief. I agree about McGowan. Fantastic when he signed. A bit of a strange turnaround in fortunes for him. Has the injury knocked his confidence?

Seedorf gone back to wolves, and scannell out till feb, so definitely a winger needed! What happened to Aidy White?

It's interesting how DH's rhetoric has altered somewhat over the past few weeks in the lead-up to the window opening.
Earlier talk appeared to be how crucial it was to have players lined up on the first day of the window, the cavalry of several players to arrive at earliest opportunity, for this critical battle for survival.
Now it seems to be streamlined down to a maximum of three, of which two will be almost certainty loans.

Upon the breaking news of Rahic confirmed departure, reports informed it was 'hoped' that up to a million pound was to be made available to DH's war-chest by Rupp.
It was also echoed on here by some telling us they were in the know (although I'm more sceptical of clubs messengers on here).
IF this is the case, and we now know that DH is in sole control in a full managerial capacity of signings.
Has DH now re-assessed his need for multi-signings, is he having more success with the squad than he originally envisaged.
Or is the one million an incorrect figure, and he hasn't at his disposal what he'd like.
Therefore more a off-load before recruit policy, which in all likelihood may cause delay into January before adding to the squad

I suppose I was saying we will have a reduced spend in January if we let the passengers go with large outstanding contracts dude.

Agreed. Especially if we continue to pick up form. Plus I'd imagine its quite difficult shipping out players in January when you're down at the bottom.

I suspect McGowan will stay because he offers a bit of versatility. Wright will have been told he can find a new club but its easier said than done when his career is clearly on the decline. I'd hope there would be a L2 loan move for Joe Riley so he can get some games.

Ellis Hudson might be the start of a few of the younger players being shipped out as we move away from Edin's model and trim the squad that way. Isherwood, Hawkes, Gibson, Clare would all be potentials there.

Jack Payne is still a big concern for me. I'm sure clubs will be looking at him to see if they can do what Blackburn did last season and move him up the league. I'd also keep Karl Henry in there as an experienced head, he's had a couple of bag games but I'd say he's had more good than bad. I suspect Hopkin sees him as a key voice in the dressing room.

It's a gamble but perhaps he's now thinking we have enough to get out of the mess and he'd rather hold fire on to the cash until the summer when he can get it exactly the players he wants??

Just a thought, may be wrong.

Reading today's T&A we won't be seeing Seedorf again.

He's injured until the end of his loan and as it's only half year and he's done knack all so far I don't think he'll be back.

Mass clear out would be stupid. Let one or two go, bring in better players but we need back ups for the second half of the season. Once we are safe, then get rid of the deadwood in the summer.

Personally,I think DH has weighed up the options for January and being limited,I think he will do only the minimum required to save a season where playoff pride has realistically evaporated.

Rupp may be putting a million in but this could be out of necessity to keep the club going. In the report on Saturdays match Simon Parker referred to "financial black holes" left by Rahic.

Apparently the squad had to beg Reevesy to get out of his bed on ward 33 and take part in a photo.

So many ifs...but your thinking could also be right. If we keep going at the pace we've set over the last 5 matches -- 8 points, or 1.6 points per game -- then we'll pick up another 38 points, for 56 on the year. Even I would be happy with that total, in the context of this season I should say! This is however playoff pace over a season, and over twice the pace of our first 17 matches -- can the current squad keep it going? Maybe, but I'd still be happier with a few reinforcements.

Agree, Stefan was never going to give Hopkin a £1m transfer budget for January, it will be to cover the finacial mess Edin got the club into.
