Saw a comment on Twitter about our attendance tonight being “leaner and meaner”…
Gave me a chuckle at least.

 

The point is how has it got to the stage where 10000 fans simply can’t be bothered to attend an event they’ve paid for.
It’s a sign that the product on offer isn’t even worth peoples time even if it costs them nothing.

and it isn’t just last night either, barring a few, there has barely been 10000 inside the stadium for all the home games this season.

 

What do you think the crowd actually was tonight?

I would say bored shitless.

I stayed at home, watched on Ifollow and turned off not long after half time. Even my wife asked if I was watching the football and when I asked why, she said you are normally shouting at the laptop but I was silent as were most in VP as well as was regularly noted by Radio Leeds. Even when we equalised it felt a bit like that late Jamie Walker goal that hardly anyone cheered.

What soul this club had, has been systematically drained out by those that are running it. I don't think they are meaning to do that, but we are just not being run as a forward thinking football club. We are at best, a recruiter of mediocre football players who we give lengthy contracts to. I dread to think how much money we have actually spaffed in the last 3 seasons. Probably near £9-10 Million perhaps? And we are literally treading water.

We can't even use the excuse that the players are unable to cope with big crowds, as we are definitely not having anywhere near the declared attendances. Last night it looked around 5-6K at best so no pressure on the players and they still served up that dross.

We need new ownership and leadership asap otherwise we will continue to regress as a club and where will that lead us?

 

Dress it up all you want, people are getting pissed off. It wasn't even that bad last night, more windy than anything. The temperature was very mild, about 12-13 deg

 

So say we where top of the league do you think the weather would have affected them numbers ?????

 

It was on TV and the weather was crap.

I get that a lot of people on here like to deny it but when the game is on TV people will stay at home and watch instead.

Like I always say in discussions about the 3pm blackout, just be careful what you all wish for.

 

Statistically that's impossible. The Gaye population of the UK is only around 1.3%

 

A good point raised on twitter, if the club include season ticket holders in crowd numbers where they have attended or not, should season ticket holders receive loyalty points whether they attend or not?

 

I think it being a tuesday night ,and the terrible weather had a big impact with the numbers .

 

They could have all fit into the Shay, that's up for sale, perhaps we should buy it and re-locate !! Great little ground that we could get rocking again.

 

72/73 season I started following City.
The lowest they've finished over this period is18th twice in 2010-2012.
Its quite possible that this team could finish lower, thus technically this season could be the worst City side I've witnessed in over 50years.
And RS is telling us they're getting the recruitment this season right.
I'm not surprised fans are showing their apathy to visit VP.

Mid table. The season has been written off by many. Increasingly number of fans are now questioning Sparks involvement and don't trust or believe a word that comes out of his mouth.
With nothing to play for other than safety this season, fans are voting with their feet. Just a thought.

Now there is thought. Would be nearer for me. Loads of parking under the bridge and a nice little walk.

 

There's even scope to build a two tier stand on Skircoat Road and make it approaching 17,000. It's a lovely ground, always been one of my faves, but more so since they rebuilt three sides.

 

It was 6,200 give or take a few. That's official from an official but is obviously not the official one!!

 

The attendance -- in terms of numbers -- was like the team: sustainably mediocre. The latter seems perfectly capable of remaining at that level for the foreseeable...the former may well stay there too. Alas.
