To Kill a Mockingbird is still one of my all time favourites.

The Stand being my favourite Stephen King book. A topical book to read at the moment if you have not already read

I've just started to read Hilary Mantel's trilogy of Thomas Cromwell starting with Wolf Hall.

My other half loved the first two volumes (bought for her as a pressie by yours truly) because she's intrigued by the life and times of Henry VIII. But she then passed them onto her mates! So I then had to buy them again online for my own purposes. Bloody charming!

Confessions of a Window Cleaner, Pulliitzer prize stuff. And a stack of old Fiestas for when I want my reading to be less intellectually demanding.

I ilke Robert Harris. He doesn't get the recognition he deserves despite his best sellers. I'd recommend most of his earlier stuff - Fatherland, Archangel, Enigma, The Ghost, for example . They all have an alternative history theme mixed in amongst a version of the 'facts'. And both Pompeii and Conclave are on my 'to read' list.

The Ghost is an interesting read. Harris apparently is a big mate of Tony Blair so it would be anybody's guess what TB made of the novel. I won't say any more!

My daughter is reading the Narnia series so I'm re-reading them myself 30 odd years later than the first time around.

I am considering re-reading my almost complete works of Dickens, it will certainly pass some time. Found a lot of them have quite a similar plot to them (poor boys made good).
There are a few books I haven't got, may try to search them out.
Tale of Two Cities probably my favourite, quite an emotional read.

Read them all - with the exception of The Ghost. I enjoy his writing style.
Finished Enigma on Wednesday, didn’t think it was one of his better works, still not a bad read though.

I'm reading Winston Churchill's World War 2, Volume 1 - I bought 11 of the 12 books from a charity shop for 50p each, bargain, haven't actually checked which one is missing though!

Churchill sets out the post-WW1 scene very compellingly, but the tit-for-tat politics in the UK, Europe and the wider world is a bit of a dull read at times as bad decision after bad decision slowly allows Germany to rearm while the rest of the world intentionally disarm, while forcing everybody else (except Germany) to do the same.

Looking forward to getting past the snippets of speeches that fell on deaf ears and seeing how things panned out.

Any of you read the Peter James "Roy Grace" novels? I've worked my way through them all (15 or so). Apparently they are making a tv version of the first two. Hopefully will be a good adaption.

How, just finished reading two by him. One after the other. “Churchill’s secret warriors” which I really enjoyed. The second was “Nazi hunters” which was also a good read. Probably preferred the first. For those that haven’t read them - essentially all based around the SAS/SBS.
