Interesting that Sparks only asked Trueman to take over as caretaker manager and it was Trueman who wanted Sellars as joint manager.

Bit pessimistic maybe, but Richie Wellens has left Salford. I wonder if Sparks will be weighing up the options? Would say we have no where near the players for his style.

The best we've ever done in this current league format is 7th. -
In truth what we need is Bolton and Tranmere to go up this season.
No, excuses not to go up next season no matter what.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -

Salford City just sacked the man that won the league last season. They're distinctly midtable.
Bolton are surging, but they're only 5th and I'm not sure if their form will last indefinitely. Ours didn't. (They had 3 shots against Port Vale and won. They needed a penalty and a red card to limp past Walsall. Prior to those, they failed to beat us, although they blitzed Cambridge).
Tranmere might feel they have the players to secure the league, too, but it isn't happening as the table stands.
It very rarely works as you're suggesting. Last year, a loan player from another League Two club won Swindon the league. Crewe and Plymouth were 2nd and 3rd. No disrespect to any of those clubs, but none of them are top half in League One this season because they simply don't have the resources to compete.
The biggest, best resourced, most ambitious sides don't win the league in League Two. Portsmouth may be the only club to fit that bill in the last two decades (or more).
It's not about 'having to finish in the autos', it's about getting promoted by hook or by crook and doing everything we can do to negate the fact (and it is a fact) that every team sees teams like us and Bolton as big sides. Have you been listening to the away commentary? It's mentioned overtly by the commentators every single game, and you can bet it's used by the opposition players and managers just as often. -
Salford sack Manager and appoint Gary Bowyer but only 'on loan' until the end of the season then back to Derby. Rooney doing Neville a favour?, whilst they line someone up for next season all suggests they have given up.
Tranmere lacking Vaughan until September - not the best solution for promotion.
Bolton, I think, may make the auto spots.
The rest is open. In our case we had more points going into the Carlisle game than in 2013 and the equivalent game after was a 4-1 loss at Exeter, then it all happened.
Watch this space?....possibly. -
Salford have given up if appointing Bowyer that's for sure! Bradford City gave up appointing him. Shocking appointment by us! Awful!
As for us. Hope you are right!Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -

Can't see Rooney's managerial career being a long one, he'll probably give up when Derby see him off..
