Not sure we will mate they are both getting game time, they ain't going to make the Huddersfield squad, and I believe both Payne & O'Brien are on a season long loans.

 

That will be good Dave. As far as I can see from comments made, these two are a breath of fresh air and put the more experienced pro's to shame.

 

O'Brien has been one of our top performers during his time here, I've Championed Payne because he's a footballer but others say he can't play in our system, I'd argue neither can several other players who get picked week in week out .

 

Just like Stuart was expecting Gordon Greer to be offered a contract 2 summers ago. Hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't bet against Caddis being messed about and ultimately going elsewhere.

 

Payne is here until January, like last season.

 

Spoke to Paul on Tuesday. He just said he was training hard but had no insight into how things may materialize with City. Well , that's what he told me!! Not fully sure if he has been training with City during the latter part of the week,.

 

Hopkin said on the radio afterwards that we’re in talks with Caddis’s agent as we speak.

 

I know we're signing free agents who can't be 100 % fit, but there is a certain comforting feeling looking at players coming in like Jim O'Brien and Paul Caddis.

O'Brien is the bite and steel we lacked when we originally pieced together the midfield of Wright, Akpan and Payne, while Caddis goes down as an attacking full back who can play either side - pretty crucial when we've had to rely far too heavily on lads like Riley and Wood.

It feels like we're getting back to the Parkinson mentality of 'men not boys', which is about the only way a non-rich lower league side can succeed, so hopefully we also see the same theories applied to the forwards, particularly in regards strength, steel, and hold up play.

The green shoots of recovery are a long way off producing something tangible, but with a good overhaul, we could avoid successive relegations.

 

I also think it’s funny how Hopkin refers to Caddis, and generally, that we are “lacking Utility players”.

Whilst I don’t want to rake up old news, let’s take Luke Hendrie for example - he could play right back, left back and centre mid.
It has since been determined that we didn’t sign him because we were already in talks with Joe Riley in January.

Rahic obviously thought Riley was a better player than Hendrie. That may be, but I would argue we got far more value out of Hendrie in the short time he was here than Riley, who has turned out to be a disappointment so far.

The point being, Hopkin is trying to re-do what has been undone in the last 12 months when anyone with half a brain could see that decisions being taken on the playing side were the wrong ones.

 

I know Hendrie has been done to death but we didn’t sign him because we wouldn’t pay what Burnley wanted, a difference in opinions of £5,000
