Well reading between the lines this morning, it would appear we have missed out on targets, who have moved on elsewhere now, as Bowyer awaits the green light to bring in more recruits.

Bowyer hints that he is interested in bringing in players he has worked with before, Callum Cooke for one perhaps?

It would be a shame if Rupp holds back, when we are probably 2 0r 3 quality additions from having a squad capable of being top 3 this season.

I still reckon it will be a couple of loans toward the closure of the window

I was more concerned that he is saying he is waiting to hear. I fully expect him to know exactly what the details of any extra monies that are being allocated to the playing budget. The answer to all media on this question is this ‘ we are in discussions and obviously it is sensitive business information and I am not at liberty to discuss fully with the media’

The article is a bit contradictory because in one part he is talking about players he has worked with then he says it could be loans. I still think they would like departures first

Yeah, I think Rupp would prefer departures, but looking unlikely.

Unfortunately we have a few who are probably earning good money, who are not contributing at all, for one reason or another.

Riley situation continues to baffle me. He looked decent in pre-season, and I would suggest the better option for Left Back. However, Bowyer, like his predecessors, continue to overlook him, I dont think he was even on bench on Saturday.

Robinson presumably must still be earning his wage, despite being unavailable for 12 months, due to his club suspension.

Reeves unavailable for 18 months due to his mystery injury/illness

Doyle and Akpan, although will probably involved, have not justified their large salaries

You forgot to mention the biggest earner of them all Sean Scannel. He has done absolutely zilch in his time here and couldn't even get a starting place on the opening day.

You are right, we haven't had our money's worth from him yet either. I was amazed he didnt start on Saturday. I still reckon though, give him a good run in the team, and will tear this league up, and will supply plenty of ammunition for Vaughan and Donaldson

I would love to know what suggests he will tear the league up, because I don't see it.

    Just a workmanlike winger.

Agree Jon but thought he made a few clever runs and passes on Saturday to pick out Vaughan and Donaldson, you could clearly see that all 3 have played a higher level but all 3 are now playing at city for a reason!

For me Scannel should have started on Saturday either behind the front 2 or on the wing with Gibson behind the front 2.

Let’s hope Saturday was a blip and we can pick up 3 points this week and some new players

Just an opinion Jon, he has the pedigree, and the team looked far better balanced when he came on for the last 15 minutes on Saturday. He takes some watching for defenders, which should allow more space for Vaughan and Donaldson to pull away from markers

He's also said O'Hara turned 2 bids down due to being in 'league 2'.
Riley posted a picture on his Instagram yesterday of a private hospital, saying ‘see you again Thursday’.. maybe an injury of some sort?

I think he says it could be loans because the better quality players would probably be loaned from Premier League clubs and until their season starts they won't be sure who is available for loan. That maybe wishful thinking on my part.

He wasn’t training yesterday. Sounds like another one in the injury room!

I agree about Scannel. He didn't start on Saturday due to the system we played, which I think showed that Bowyer thinks we need more quality/strength in central midfield if he is to play with wingers. That is maybe why he is thinking of loans from bigger clubs. I don't think anyone doubts Scannel's abilty.

Watch is footwork closely Jon and you will see why people rate him. I was of the same opinion as you while he was put of the side last season mate.

Oh, I think he's got ability, no doubt. He can beat a man, but then what?

So far, he reminds me if a motivated Bobby Petta - can ghost past players, but no end product.

Less talented players like Marshall are more likely to tear defences about imo.

If you told me he’d played at consistent high level i wouldn’t believe you from what i’ve seen from him. Just a very direct runner with a bit of pace.

He's very strong. He's able to muscle his way past defenders. Even when double marked he can just burst through them.
I'd like to see him given a run of games because I think he could be very effective at this level. But I suspect that won't happen unless & until we get reinforcement in central midfield. I think Bowyer is prioritising keeping it tight until we get some extra class in.
