No sign that we are after a physical striker before the deadline. Big mistake in my opinion

 

Collins has previously said he does not believe in the big striker route and not interested in big physical strikers, He much prefers quick and fast running players up front

 

Of course we're not in for another striker. Another one would mean even less game time for edin's beloved Kai Brunker.

It would be nice to recruit some fast running forwards then that can score and midfielders who can make the killer passes.to them. Given the fact the current crop of players are hitting the ball long (due to the inability of other team mates to be able make themselves available to receive passes ) - a decent forward who can recieve high balls and hold up play should be considered.

Rather than bringing in a big, physical forward to satisfy a brand of football we do not want to employ, wouldn't it be better to bring in a midfielder (or two) to compliment the type of forwards we already have?

Recruiting players to accomodate an underperforming midfield would show a serious lack of ambition.

 

Whilst I agree, Collins looks incapable of getting the team to play the ball on the floor like he wants. His only style of play to this date, and I use the term style very loosely, seems to be hit and hope. If this is the only way he can get them playing then we need a target man. We can sign as many good players to fit the desired system as you want but if the manager can't get the team playing that way then it's pointless.

 

If we want to play 442 a targetman is essentiall. If he wants to continue playing one up front then in my opinion he would be better playing Miller before Doyle because he will run all day and Doyle is a penalty box player.

So you would have been happy to sign him up on a permanent deal like Shrewsbury offered Burnley? He wasn't good enough and I'm glad that we didn't waste the money. I don't like the way the clubs been run but to sign another player that's not league 1 standard was the right thing , god knows we already had plenty of those signed up.

 

We need serious reinforcements for both. The midfield looks piss weak anyway and that’s before you factor in Reeves looking like he’s gone.

And up front we lack quality. Doyle is the only one who looks decent and proven. What we need is a forward who has a bit of presence but also some technical ability. Someone who could play on his own or with Doyle. And don’t forget, for a good 3-4 months a lot of pitches turn to dogshit so you have to be able to go more direct. Ched Evans would’ve been perfect - a rounded mix of presence, mobility and technique.

For years we’ve neglected our attacking capability. Look at the likes of Peterborough and what they have in their locker.

‘Attacking Football’ preaches Edin. Bullshit. He won’t pay what it takes to get the ability you need to play attacking football.

From top to bottom, we’re an outfit that has ‘relegation’ stamped all over it.

aye of course, because it's not as if we need reinforcements anywhere else is it.
we'll not be bothered about lack of numbers at the back, or the shite array of fullbacks we have, or the complete lack of any strength up front - lets just get a central midfielder, who even then will only sit on the bench because we won't drop club captain Wright or Hopeless Akpan.
