Local tv has been full of their policy for 20 years I have been watching it. That’s how I know what they do, irrespective of who the manager/ head coach is.

 

Well in my opinion we have made some good signings and still need two or three more. There is a worry about coaching but that we will only discover as we go along. But I think we will finish above last season's position

Okay. I disagree with you. Nowhere does it say that he brings in all of the players and that the manager has to live with it.

Their chairman has stated that Evans gives him a list of players which has also been confirmed from Evans himself. So at a guess, I think they'd have two separate lists. The Barry Fry list which consists of players who fit the Peterborough model (aswell as a few general suggestions ) and the other list which consists of players Steve Evans wants to work with and who he believes will help him achieve success. Bring the two lists together, come to a final agreement on targets with the odd compromise thrown in and everyone's happy. I'd be shocked if Evans was given a bunch of players who he knows nothing about and is told "here you you go". That method is used abroad and is very rarely implemented here. If it was used when the article was written, it would explain why their had an inexperienced manager in charge at the time who was in his first management job. Not a chance Steve Evans would work under the same conditions and I've not seen anything to suggest he does.

 

So we agree, we'd better finish higher than last season because we only played half a season, I can't be arsed to get our record from the Yeovil game onward but 15 points at best from 20 or so games, we'd better finish above 11th, or 12,000 maybe a good effort with regards season ticket uptake next season.

There are clearly a few assumptions on your part. The above extract doesn't confirm that Evans has to "put up with the signings" or that he doesn't provide MacAnthony with his own list of targets, and I've explained why above. You've addressed none of them directly.

 

Yes I am making an assumption that the model they have followed for years has stayed the same. I am sure Evans will have his opinions but the signings are sourced and negotiated by Fry and approved by the chairman

The article confirms that Fry finds players which specifically fit their model and nothing else. As you know though, you need a mixture of players. Where does it say the manager doesn't give a proposed list of players who he wants to work with, in addition to Fry trying to find the next gem to sell on? Absolutely nowhere. How do you know that McCann and Evans are working under the exact same conditions. You don't. All assumptions and you have nothing to back it up. For the time being, i'd rather go with what their chairman and manager have said over the past few weeks, rather than you putting 2 and 2 together.

Evans confirmed in today's T&A that he submitted a list of players he wants.

Beyond that, I don't understand what the debate is?

 

I think the pro Rahic gang are trying to justify our club policy by using Peterborough as an example.

Evans doesn't have a say in transfers either etc etc

To be honest, Evans never struck me as a master negotiator, given his track record he's more a guy who offers more in order to sign early, in order to mount a serious challenge.

If Peterborough's arrangement is that someone else will negotiate, Evans probably needs to cast his net a little wider - but I can't see why anyone would assume Fry wasn't trying to sign the players Evans wants.

With us, it seems unlikely that Collins has had any say in many of our signings so far.

He wasn't even a candidate for the job until the weekend prior to his appointment, so I'd say we're far more of a 'European-model' than Peterborough are.
