On first viewing it certainly fails to get the pulse racing, but until we know exactly which two lads may (or may not) be coming - a hard one to call. Our own Tyrell Robinson may become a multi £m player, yet equally, he could stagnate before disappearing into non League. I'm happy to wait and see, for now.

All he says is that he wants to get back to work and that he has itchy feet. No mention of where ‘work’ will be.

 

If I ever run into you, I'll buy you a pair of socks rather than a pint. Seriously though, a good article in todays T & A by someone more qualified than any of us to write it; Paul Jewell. He was 33 when appointed and I can remember the negativity that he talks about. I can remember people being happy on the way to the Sheff U game that this could be his last in charge. His article was balanced in that he agrees that the way the appointment has been made makes it look cheap and panicky but as a fan wants Michael to succeed and urges all of us to get behind him. Quite right; I know virtually all of us will do this. We have no axe to grind with him, all he has done is to accept a promotion and any one of us would have done the same. We have to give him all the encouragement we can and hope that Edin's judgement turns out to be genius this time, after all we all get a lot of things wrong in life but now and then, we get something right.

But true - Many on here won't even remember Paul Jewell, let alone what he achieved.

Agree we should all give Collins time and support. You can’t compare the 2 though as Jewell spent around £4-£5m to buy good solid players, this won’t be the case next season and I doubt Jewell would have had any success on the shoestring budget Collins will get. Hope I’m wrong but I feel his hands are tied in regards to any real progress.

 

How about a rendition of “Michael Collins’ Bradford Army. We want Rahic out”

The spending is correct but comparable to the spending in that division. Our spending in this division is likely to be comparable to most of the average teams and that is what I expect this time, as long as I see grounds for hope in the not too distant future.

 

Agree our spending will be comparable to most teams. I think people get a bit carried away with what we spend on fees as it’s just the same money spent differently, e.g. we don’t pay big wages. My optimistic head says mid table and maybe a few player sales for a decent profit. The thing I don’t understand is Edin would never have been happy mid table under McCall so why now.

Thought I’d read some comment somewhere about that, could be wrong....or dreaming it. Well he’s definitely stated to stay calm if we lose the first 5 games. Certainly wasn’t his reaction when McCall went on a not so similar run recently.

According to WOAP, Edin was asked if he would be happy with 12th position in January with a few players coming through and he said something along the lines of "yes, as long as we are building something". Have a read.
