It would be nice tbf, certainly for all our blood pressures! Whilst I understand the point I’ve just watched the league 2 highlights, top against bottom only 1 goal in it and Rochdale missed a pen. Plenty of draws and 1 goal margins as well. We are far from the only team, I believe it said Stevenage in second have won their games by 1 goal as well.

Just to add, so many of the goals were appalling the other night. It’s not always that bad but I wish we got some of the gifts teams were getting, you need luck as much as anything at this level. I lost count of the keeper howlers.

Watching games this season, Smallwood is another in the referees ear. Saw him numerous times at Tranmere and before pointing out issues on the pitch, clearly using the totting up system, showing the referee where different incidents have occurred.

I’ve played Sunday league football for years, but I don’t see the relevance between that and professional football. Feel free to explain the connection and I can bring in some anecdotes from my football “career”.

In terms of being happy I not, I specially said “it’s great that we’re winning” which I think tells you that I’m happy enough. My point is that to get into the top 3 (which should be our aim) it would be nice win some games a bit more comfortably. Hanging on to a one goal lead each week isn’t sustainable, hence my point in another post around successful teams having plenty of 2+ goal victories.

Stevenage are winning by the odd goal :
    Tranmere Rovers 1 - 2 Stevenage
    Stevenage 2 - 1 Stockport County
    Walsall 1 - 1 Stevenage
    Stevenage 1 - 0 Rochdale
    Stevenage 2 - 1 Carlisle United
    Salford City 1 - 0 Stevenage
    Crewe Alexandra 1 - 2 Stevenage
    Stevenage 1 - 0 Newport County
Leyton Orient have only won twice by 2 or more goals, were 8 games into a new season it will come IMO.

Yes I noticed that, it’s about time we had someone in the refs face as captain he would be allowed some leeway in doing so. Other teams do it!!

Absolutely agree, the performances so far haven't quite merited the points we've accrued. We can and I suspect will get better as the season goes on but if we don't then it's almost certainly another mid table nothing of a season.

Can't disagree with any of that and I also think there will be a lot more to come. Mark is a polar opposite to the guy we had last year(forgotten his name already) and I think we will end up with a healthy goal difference. Having subs who can come on and make their mark(especially this season) makes a world of difference.

Just watched the highlights and at the end the ball 100% bounces up and hits Platt's hand, he clearly thinks he's got away with one when the ref blows for full time. Across watching football I've seen the way that would have been interpreted as chanigning from penalty as he handballed it, to not penalty as he couldn't get away with it to god knows what now depending on the biomechanics of his arm and body in relation to the flight of the ball at the time (silly stuff this 'natural position nonsense)... add in VAR zooming in and slowing it down and it could have literally gone either way

For what it's worth I think it was definitely not a penalty... as it was full time already and so there was no time to take one! ;)

I think the ref made the correct decision. It was completely involuntary - the ball bounced up, hit him and he couldn't have avoided it - and his arm and hand were certainly not in an unnatural position. So, even by the current arcane rules, it was not a penalty

No penalty for me either Doodle.
However, the referee can allow time for a penalty to be taken at the end of the game. (Or he could, unless the rules have changed)
