    Stephen Warnock

"The big thing, for me, when I went into the club, was that it is not run properly.

“The training ground is shared with a school, you’re sharing facilities with the school, you can’t go in the gym when they need it. The training ground is a school pitch, if they want it, then they use it.

“These are little things that managers have to juggle with all the time, the players don’t know where they’re going to be training from one day to the next, or whether they’re going to be able to use the facilities that they need to use.

“Often, you’re eating school dinners as well. This is meant to be a professional outfit, but it’s not good enough for that level, or for a club of that size.”

    David Hopkin

Pictures now adorn the players' canteen, the stairs leading up to the changing area and the corridors.

“It’s to make it more of a training centre,” he said.

“When we came in, you had these grey breeze block walls and I don’t think it was very inviting.

“We want the training centre to become a place where the next person here will come in to a good environment.

“When I first came in, there was a lot of stuff lying about. It didn’t make it feel like a training ground – but it’s starting to get there now.

When Simon Grayson turned down his two year contract wasn’t one of the reasons given that the training facilities weren’t good enough?

We go on about how a club like Bradford City shouldn’t be dwindling in league 2 but in reality when you speak to people who have been in the game for years like the examples above then its quite clear its not up to scratch.

Oh dear poor souls, having to slum it down at Woodhouse Grove for 3 hours a day , then having their dinner and off to the golf course and only earning £2000 per week. My heart bleeds for them.

I’ve given you 3 examples from professionals in the game that have stated they weren’t good enough. But yea… what a load of old tosh. You know better.

They were good enough for the team that survived in the Premier League. The Championship promotion team. The League Two promotion winners. The team that reached a major cup final.

They aren’t ideal but they are not holding us back. Shit players/managers/lack of leadership at the top are all bigger stumbling blocks to success.

The old training ground debate right up there with the mystical new stadium debate, never happening we may as well discuss Narnia or some other make believe land it’s a waste of typing. They could probably be better can’t say I know what other lower league clubs have, but I’m sure they could be a lot worse the only players and managers that have criticised them seem to be ones that failed here.

In an ideal world the council, Bradford uni, Bulls and ourselves would come together as a joint venture that benefits all parties and local communities and build state of the art facilities for all to use. But it’s far too much vision and investment risk for all 4 parties so it’s pie in the sky.

Not sure what Graysons beef was. He got Huddersfield promoted using facilities shared with Huddersfield University. I guess his later spells at money bags Preston, Leeds & Sunderland made him forget his roots.

Warlock had come from a premier league life, what did he expect ?

Concentrate on getting out of league two and then perhaps we can sort out better training facilities. One things fir sure, the training ground has less impact on out ability to progress than the people using it.

If I owned the club, I would be looking at domewhere like Manningham Mills on Scotchman Road which has potential to be a great training ground, but I guess that is protected as a community asset.

90% of our fan base would give their left testicle to play for the club, despite the Victorian workhouse conditions
Footballers are generally greedy , self interested individual's, with no connection, heart or passion for the clubs they represent .

They were good enough to get us into the PL and that was when they were no where near as good or extensive as today.

Have you got the millions required to build training facilities after you have found a site and acquired said space enough to also buy the stadium and modernise it or even build a new one, whilst at the same time splash out on players to push us up the leagues . Probably talking £60+ million minimum. would you be stupid enough to do it , without any gaurantee of sucess.

I think the point is, that footballers do not live in Joe blogs world.
i am probably 3 times their age, work 4 times the hours they do , for a quarter of the money.
If they dont like it, become a nurse, police officer street cleaner, construction worker.

    That'll soon change.

Our facilities our fine. But our reputation within the game is in the gutter. We're known as a club whereby reputations and careers dwindle rather than thrive. And we tend to underpay for players with potential, and overpay for has beens. Basket case.

Lets be honest, if he has other offers at this level, we won't be at the front of the queue in his thinking.

And people think this is acceptable?

It’s a bloody school. It’s a disgrace that we train there.

    @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler where you at? Hiding?

We question the players effort but we will sign players that look around and go yeah I will join, easy money. The club makes no effort to improve so I will just chill and cash in!

The club is god damn lazy! That lazy behaviour comes from Rupp right the way down to the dancers.

I know why the arrogant Grayson is so disliked on here but here is a guy based in Skipton fresh from a big payout from Sunderland who would not touch the City job.
Speaks volumes about the investment need for our infrastructure to compete.

Not sure about that except when the river floods they have spent a fair bit of money on them just as they did on the VP pitch.
