The kick offs. We had a few to be fair, he was well into his rhythm by the end.

Belief and faith are huge factors, much as I like the OP's sentiment, from the owner, through to the team and supporters how can anyone have any belief or faith in Bowyer?
The fact that he is shocked and stunned at yesterdays performance speaks volumes. After the unfortunate slip for Oldhams first goal it was game over, we nearly all knew it, including the team.
The signings we have made in the transfer window are not bad players, we do need to give them a chance, we do need to give it a real go, we do need to be positive.
The squad is underperforming, but first things first, Bowyer must go and go now, there will be no upturn under him.
I have no idea who, if anyone, we have within the club to be in charge of the team against Grimsby, maybe a senior player, but it cannot be Bowyer or Drury.

Yes he needs to go before he gets his hands on the new players and he Bowyers them. Look at our new winger yesterday, made a good fist of that shambles yesterday.

Where did you get its our fault from?

Also not being happy about something doesn't mean I will whinge and moan about it. Its got toxic recently and logging out is an option for me now. With where I work it its hard to find city fans so i could talk on here.. Do think for me its got far now though.

It's the coaching and the way we are set up to play. This 'caution first' attitude we've had all season is finally starting to take it's true toll. I am not in the least surprised our defence is now starting to crumble; they are under immense pressure every single game because we are doing absolutely nothing positive at the other end of the pitch. I think we have a decent back line for this league but their confidence is shot and for that I blame one man only because it is the way he has set us up to play that has led to this.

Agree. Football is simple, you defend from the front, and you attack from the back, ignoring one part at the expense of the other, and this shambles is what you get.

I have an alternative plan. Im going scientific here and I'm dragging in a handful of liverpool fans to the next game. They must clap like, REALLY hard so if they can't make the difference and we still tamely surrender to a poor Grimsby side I'm calling bulls**t on thre whole clapping thing.

This is it, this is the reason he has to go. The slip for the first goal yesterday was unfortunate but watch the build up to it. That ball should never have been in a position to go back to O'Connor, it was comfortable midfield possession but with no possible attacking outlet available due to Bowyers fixation with playing five defenders and two deep lying defenders who aren't actually defensive midfielders. Where on gods earth did he think a goal was going to come from? Every week its blindingly obvious why our midfielders like Reeves and Palmer (now departed, a blessing for the lad) and to a lesser extent Cooke end up passing back. Bowyer kills the team stone dead before its got on the pitch.
Our only outlets are two full backs being asked to play as wing backs and a winger with no end product at all. No wonder our strikers never look like scoring.
4 creative players on the bench, great stuff. Leaving Gibson till 3 minutes to go was the icing on the cake.

    Completely agree.

Another thing with the wing back areas though, have a look who the only two people are putting in ball's from the right hand side on the rare occasions we get the ball that high up. One's an orthodox right back (Henley/Mellor) and the other is a centre half (AOC). Is it any wonder there's no quality coming into the box?

Bang on. You need extra special defenders (actually the whole team) to play that kind of defensive backs to the wall game for 90 minutes. We don't have that. The pressure on the defence is enormous. It now has gaping holes in it and folding to teams close to the bottom of the division. It's more like relegation form. We offer nothing going forward. Confidence is non existent. We've arrived back at last season, only this time in a lower division. Extremely worrying.

The first goal illustrates your point. Henley out of position with a cautious back pass to O'connor. Is that correct pass, when not under pressure? I think not.

The only way to draw a line under the negativity, is to sack the most negative manager I can recall watching City, and that includes Taylor, and also sack a coach in Drury, who is more out of his depth than even Collins was

I'm still of the belief Docherty was worse. But for Bowyer, that ain't a good comparison.

Where Bowyer drops below the others in my opinion is that he's actually been backed financially and had the players at his disposal and his hand hasn't been forced to play the way he has. I've had a season ticket since 95 so can't comment on Doherty but wasn't he pre Richmond when the club were skint? Bowyer was given the tools which other managers in the recent past haven't and has made an almighty mess of it. Everyone keeps stating that we may have had a top 3 budget but he didn't get to spend it all. To counter that, the best players this season have been ROD, AOC and Connor Wood who were already here and isn't Akpan now our top scorer? :joy: Bowyer hasn't had his hands tied like some are making out. He's just not good enough and inept on all fronts to be a manager for us.

Docherty at least provided us with a laugh towards the end of his tenure when the crowd booed as we passed it about a bit and then erupted in a huge cheer when it was hoofed forward.

It was dreadful under Docherty, the football was the worst I have witnessed, but under Bowyer we are n’t really playing football. It is inept. It’s his recruitment and his inability to get anything out of Doyle and Vaughan. I doubt going back 50 years we have had a spell of less attempts on target than this guy and he’s had a top 3 budget. At the start of this season how many other managers would have been envious of our budget and squad?
