Ironically even the one 'performing at the level expected' was widely vilified through the early part of the season. I remember everyone wanting to sack him off at the earliest opportunity.

 

Novak is perfectly good for the level we are playing at, he just needs someone else to put the ball in the net at a similar rate.
The Don and Gutherie are not the answer. Samuels i would hang on to for now , especially if he is only a bit part player/ third or fourth striker, even more so if Wolves are paying most of his salary, he must have something to be part of a premier league academy.

Didnt realise scott sellars ( connor's dad) is academy manager and former under 23 manager at wolves. I wonder if he can figure out a way of samuels going back and at the least cost to city

 

Depending upon what we can get in the (ridiculous) January window, the loss of BRE, Guthrie, Longridge, DMH off the slate would free up a lot more for potential signings. But my major beef is with the EFL. We're in a pandemic, a lot of clubs are on their uppers, we've never experienced anything like this before. And yet! The EFL continue with this January window madness. For f's sake, we're in the middle of really difficult times. Open up the transfer season so that it's all year long. I can't believe the EFL have been so crass and so short sighted. No window! Transfers allowable throughout the season.

 

Unfortunately, that would be a breach of UEFA rules, I believe.

 

When we were kids we were told that 'Everything comes to he who waits' I'd like to..but really? Sparks speaking a lot of sense in T&A and I'm impressed by his directness. Trueman and Sellars knowledge of players at all levels is encouraging as well. Could be a bonus allied to Turnbull's input.

 

With S and T's obvious knowledge of the youth teams I would not be in the least surprised to see a couple of young loanees come in. Lets hope they are of the Burke/O'Brian/Cullen variety.

Yep, checked it out and you're right. Thanks for the info. So then I would suggest that UEFA look to change their rules over windows, given that all european countries are in this same predicament. It seems crazy that the footballing rules establishment continue to roll blithely on as though everything was normal. There needs to be much more flexibility about how and when particularly lower league football clubs across Europe can trade players. By not acting, UEFA are only helping a lot of smaller clubs to go under, in terms of not giving them the opportunity to cancel or re-negotiate contracts, sign new players et al throughout the rest of this Covid affected season outside of the crazy window. UEFA have been pretty shite thus far, in only looking to the interests of the premier leagues and clubs. It's really important they offer lower league teams Europe wide, the chance to survive.

 

The rules that are there at the moment are a compromise to keep the transfer system in place. In the early 2000,s employment law was changing through the world (and particularly in Europe) in such a way that it was thought that football contracts would be unenforceable and all an footballer would have to do would be to give a period of notice (just like normal employees) before moving to another club. Yes clubs would like to get rid of players when the wanted but did not like the idea they could lose their best players for nothing with very little notice. Also it is a FIFA rule thaat UEFA are following
